The Drop Broke Saddam's neck killing him instantly. At the executions following the Nuremberg Trials others were not so lucky.
THE TRIAL OF THE CENTURY--AND OF ALL TIME, PART TWO
"..The executions, in a brightly lighted prison gymnasium where three looming black wooden gallows had been erected, were witnessed by a handful of Allied military officers and eight journalists, one of whom, Kingsbury Smith of International News Service, wrote a famous newspaper article, "The Execution of Nazi War Criminals, 16 October 1946," based on his eyewitness observations. Although Smith discreetly omitted mentioning it, the experienced Army hangman, Master Sgt. John C. Woods, botched the executions. A number of the hanged Nazis died, not quickly from a broken neck as intended, but agonizingly from slow strangulation. Ribbentrop and Sauckel each took 14 minutes to choke to death, while Keitel, whose death was the most painful, struggled for 24 minutes at the end of the rope before expiring..."
"Awesome poem. Did you write that?"

This poem was written by Corporal Joshua Miles, 3rd Battalion,2nd Marines and his buddies. It is titled Wish You Were Here..Your question sent me searching..
I found it featured in several blogs and one TV station site..The one above is beautiful and contains an explanation from his parent. The poem is a little past half down as you scroll.
Thank you for asking because I was happy I found the source. The screen got a bit blurry.
It is also on this Support site.

It proves nothing. Don't you think the GOP might have considered a more appealing candidate? I think they have some ownership in the outcome. Ain't democracy grand?
Thanks Meg :)
My pleasure..Thank you for serving our country.
Rudy, on the other hand, has said he approves of the kind of judges Bush has put on the bench, he believes in constitutionalist judges (as do I).
We, the GOP, do not have any strong conservatives who can run AND win in 2008. I will vote for the candidate I believe will give us more judges in the conservative column, and that (so far) is Rudy. Abortion and gun control is both a States Rights issue and the President has little say over either issue other than to sign or veto legislation.
If we are smart, and actually get you far right conservatives to show up and vote, (once more) for the GOP, then there is no danger of Rudy taking away your guns and Rudy is not going to push for liberal abortion legislation. He also feels strongly on the WOT and that is a big issue with me as well... so, unless someone a lot better materializes withing the next few months, I already know how I plan to vote in the primary and in the general election and it is a totally pragmatic approach.
Is it considered a "Victory" to type a letter to the GOP, saying, "We will vote for you, regardless, so continuing your move to the left is fine!" ...?!?!?
I consider that to be Defeat...a selling out of our future, long-term.
At the blackest hour of the London Blitz or the Battle of the Bulge the main concern was not philosophical purity but victory.
I think we won without resorting to philosophically distasteful means, such as chemical warfare or other atrocities. We didn't use nukes in Korea, even as we clung to the tip of the peninsula. Seems those battlefield arguments support doing the right thing, rather than selling out.
In fact, it seems that they demonstrate that "the possible" is even broader than you want us to believe! We won the Battles of Britain and the Bulge; it WAS possible! And the LBJ/Vietnam example demonstrates the bankruptcy (both in terms of morality and efficacy) of trying the short-term-thinking approach rather than fighting for a real win.
I don't want Hillary or the others in there any more than anyone else here, but I also don't want to throw away our hope of ever seeing conservative wins, just to get lefties rather than far-lefties in the short term.
Heck, if we want to do that, why not just become Democrats so we can make sure there are no far-lefties on the general ballots? Seems just as effective and defeatist.
Every one is cold here
I can't even read anything on DU without feeling violated. ( LOL).
This poster is likely a wanna be Buddhist who thinks that hum anity must kow tow and die under tyrannical authority. I mean the Cambodians were Buddhists and they fought to the death against the Kmer Rouge. You diodn't hear any of this wishy washy drivel " I am ashamed to be human." from them! True ignorance is difficult to countenance in Americans, but these DU folks have actually been brainwashed. To each his own I guess. But I shudder for the Republic, because these folks may not be "re-educable." Will this define our nations final civil war? Or are the DU beliefs strong enough that they would fight for them?
Excellent game. Thanks.
You insinuated earlier that your son is in the military.
If that is true, why won't you tell us what branch?
EV, is your son in the military?
Why do you want to know?
By the way. I didn't "insinuate" anything. I stated a simple fact.
Also, before you make an even bigger ass of yourself, you might want to read my post to Jim Robinson in #967 on this thread.
When your stomach is the size of the one I'm lugging around, it's easier to digest such slop.
I check into the Democratic Underground simply to see what the certifiable loonies are up to.

Place this under the anouncement. Sadam the happy years.
Thanks, that video is posted, but this version is of better quality for some reason. There are some bright spots on the video like someone used a flash. I wish we could see those stills.
Yeah, I just noticed a new thread after I posted it. My bad!
Thanks, I had this one added to the fisrt post. It is a better view.
