A citizens' group in Berlin turned out this week for a candlelight vigil to protest plans for a new mosque in their neighborhood. It will be the first to be built in the former East Berlin, where almost no Muslims live but no one can quite explain why it shouldn't be there.
The community has just won approval for a new mosque in an eastern district of the German capital.
At the end of a rundown suburban street lined with bare trees and flaking apartment facades, a small group of people hold candles or colored Glo-sticks. A few hold signs "Democracy yes! Caliphate no!" and some carry German flags.
"The mosque is supposed to go up right here," says Günter Bronner, a blustery white-haired man with glasses pushed up on his forehead who's lived in the neighborhood for 42 years. He points to a drab piece of land at the end of the street where a defunct sauerkraut factory stands. "They want to have a minaret with a muezzin who gives the call to prayer five times a day. Can you imagine? Five times a day over our rooftops."
Officials gave the go-ahead last Friday for the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association to build a new mosque in Heinersdorf, an eastern neighborhood of Berlin where very few Muslims live. It will be the first mosque on the once-Communist eastern side of the city, and an organization of locals turned out Wednesday to protest. "It was pretty brazen to hand this (approval) to us as a Christmas present," quipped Joachim Swietlik, head of the citizens' group, who claims that 90 percent of Heinersdorf doesn't want the mosque.

Because muslims are intolerant of others, as demonstrated by their intolerance of Christian churches in muslim nations.
We should be intolerant of intolerance, and that means we should be intolerant of muslims.

My fear is that after we stupidly allow illegals amnesty, we will be giving all MEasterners amnesty to also flood our shores. Then, The Muslims will be coming and here will change our heritage, traditions and history forever. No one will have the guts to not allow this since PC thinking is filled with sentimentality, nonsence and frankly evil unknown by the participants.

Just to be a jerk about it, I suppose the Poles, Ukranians, Slovaks and other eastern Europeans must have felt the same way about the itinerant Germans wandering eastward into their countries for centuries setting up little villages and businesses. Eventually, one of those German leaders decided that the Germans living outside the Fatherland needed Lebensraum (I hope the spelling is correct) and that those places should become conquered territory.
The slow infiltration of one culture into another isn't new. The end result isn't new, either.
My wife, who has deep European roots in northern Italy, always tells me that there will reach a point in Europe when the population there will rise up against the Moslems. She predicts the whole nine yards of European governmental oppression - forced deportations, camps, genocide, if needed. This from the woman whose father fought on the side of the Italian fascists in World War II. She says that the soft liberalism you see is just a thin veneer over the real European character. We'll see.
The Germans know a fanatical movement bent on world domination and the extermination of the Jews when they see one.

If you ask for democracy then democracy allows for the freedom of religion. Your prejudices against islam are understandable in the light of current events however,
Ahmadiyyat is a 100% peaceful sect that completely condemns violence in every way shape or form and advocates peace, love and tolerance. I can understand your opinion that muslims countries are intolerant of others - many muslims countries are intolerant of Ahmadiyyat - but please understand the Ahmadiyyat moto has always been "Love for all Hatred for None".
