MOVEON to host liberal media conference in Memphis, Jan 12 - 14

Posted on 12/27/2006 11:33:03 AM PST by Gopher Broke

Dear MoveOn member,

Had enough of the corporate-dominated media? Ready to make the media more democratic and interested in the public good? Want to collaborate with thousands of others who feel the same way?

Please consider joining MoveOn staff, members of Congress, new media visionaries, civil rights trailblazers, leading actors, top grassroots organizers, and thousands of concerned citizens at the National Conference for Media Reform in Memphis this January 12-14 (Fri-Sun)—organized by our friends at Free Press.

The regular registration price is $195—but this week, a special $75 rate is available for MoveOn members. Can you join us in Memphis for the media reform conference Jan. 12-14?

To attend, click here: http://www.moveon.org/r?r=2280&id=9639-3043195-w4ptUA7p1q9AaVNRui_peg&t=2

Some conference highlights include:

Speeches by Academy Award winners Geena Davis and Jane Fonda, and actor Danny Glover. Insider perspectives from PBS's Bill Moyers, Democracy Now's Amy Goodman, famed White House correspondent Helen Thomas, filmmaker Robert Greenwald, and The Nation's Katrina vanden Heuvel. Policy discussions with Sen.-elect Bernie Sanders (I-VT), Rep. Ed Markey (D-MA), and FCC Commissioners Michael Copps and Jonathan Adelstein, and activism discussions MoveOn's Noah Winer and Adam Green. Over 100 forums, including: "Inside Corporate Media: Can It Tell The Truth?," "Media Policy Is A Civil Rights Issue," "Activism In A Wired World," "Hip Hop Activism," and "Saving The Internet." Plus, all MoveOn members who register for the conference will get free tickets to the Save The Internet party the Thursday night before the conference begins—sponsored by MoveOn and Free Press. With food, drinks, music, YouTube videos, and some special guests, this will be a great celebration of our victories in the ongoing fight to preserve Internet freedom.

When you register for the conference, you will get more information about the conference schedule, local hotels, and local residents who are willing to host out-of-town guests. You will also get an opportunity to volunteer at the MoveOn table during the conference—being the public face of MoveOn to fellow conference-goers.

Now's the time to sign up! This week, conference registration is only $75 for MoveOn members. Can you join us in Memphis for the media reform conference Jan 12-14?

Yes they absolutely do. I've met many a leftist who ascribe to that "corporate dominated media" myth. They think that conservatives are all conspiracy theorists for thinking ABC/CBS/NBC are biased in any way.

New Madrid fault cue

You think Karl Rove can make earthquakes with the same level of efficiency he did hurricanes in 2005?

No need to go to this conference. You can get the same effect and save a bunch of money by hanging at the house that weekend and drinking lots of hydrogen peroxide.
