Ellison encourages Detroit crowd to push for justice

DETROIT — Speaking in Dearborn, Mich., late Sunday night, the first Muslim elected to Congress told a cheering crowd of Muslims they should remain steadfast in their faith and push for justice.

"You can't back down, you can't chicken out, you can't be afraid, you got to have faith in Allah, and you got to stand up and be a real Muslim," Detroit native Keith Ellison said to loud applause.

"Allahu akbar" — God is great — was the reply of many in the crowd.

I had just enlisted when that happened in Texas. For a young PFC who would later be commissioned an officer, it was a sobering experience and began years of soul searching and reflection.

And that one of the reasons I am on FR!! It love speaking to intelligent people and having debates. I have seen DU... and it is not pretty. It reminds me of my liberal arts classes in college combined with a drunken acid party aftermath (also known as my old dorm Saturday morning).

For the 200+ dead in Texas, they had no time for reflection....

A more fitting analogy might be comparing rabies to the Islamic faith. It is a theology that can spread, infect, and then destroy a culture. It then leaves its followers in poverty and misery, much like a dog infected with rabies.

I doubt Google Answers (is that like Yahoo Answers?) numbers as they probably use AP sources for their statistics and the AP has been disproved time and again on casualty numbers for violence in Baghdad (AP reports are heavily inflated). However, neither are places I would want to go walking around unarmed, unarmored, and alone. This is sad because I remember going to the Detroit Science Center and Art Museum as a teenager.

You are correct, the car strippers do get upset when their product sources goes up in flames. It ruins their manicures.

Though I doubt Detroit is as bad as France's car burning problems. Unfortunately for Detroit, it tries to claim areas as far out as Troy, Sterling Heights, Dearborn, and Macomb as "Metro Detroit" even though these areas have little desire to be part of Detroit proper. Unfortunately for these places, we are actually not THAT far from downtown Detroit.

Doug, I know how discouraging is the media, and the events they choose to publish, and those events they ignore, can be for those of us who deal with the real world.

And the "media" does still have power that needs to be dealt with, since they wield it not for truth and justice, but for an unelected power position.

Islam isn't really a religion, and it does violate many of our hate laws, practically every verse and hadith.

The word "religion" was in reference to what was known as the only legit religion at the time the 1st amendment was written, Christianity and it's various denominations, not Islam.

When 9/11 happened the Monmouth County NJ prison went on lock down. Because the Muslims were cheering and so out of control.Black Americans... I know a prison guard there who told me many of the blacks jailed for drug dealing and other crimes convert to Islam. If thats where these Muslims are coming from I wouldn't want to sit and have coffee with them. ...Do you know the books that Muslim schools teach right here in our country call Jews apes, pigs and dogs? Thats what they are teaching children from toddler age.... As far as I am concerned if they want to wear burkas and want sharia law for their followers then they don't belong here. They need to stay in countries that accept those practices and take the American converts with them...They need to learn to adapt to life here not expect us to allow them to force their ways upon us.

As for the book, it overlooks a couple of interesting questions.

If all Muslims have the same agenda, think about a couple of interesting numbers.

The latest numbers are 22,000.000 Iraqis.
75 to 80% are Arabs. Only 15% to 20% Kurds.

So using the low number, 75% * 22,000,000 there are by your reckonings 16,500,000 blood thirsty Muslims determined to cut your throat.

That is only in Iraq. Many more in Iran.

So how does a force of some 150,000 American soldiers survive?

Obviously because all Muslims are not as serious about the prophet as you believe.

Get real. There are some really bad people in this world. But there are some good as well, and of all religions.

In the Southern states, many Christians justified slavery with their bibles, as this interpretation then protected their wealth.

It was hypocritical for Christians, and has been corrected.

But I do believe it is not hypocritical for Muslims, as its founder Mohamed held slaves and tortured people.

How about teaching other Muslims about tolerance? Like Saudia Arabia. Or those who destroyed Buddist statues in Afghanistan. Or Christian churches in Egypt.
