I assume from that statement that you have talked at length with a number of them about their beliefs.
I have studied Islam for many years and know more Islamic "scripture" than most Muslims. I began serving in 1981 and one of my first tours was in Indonesia after "peacefull muslims" slaughtered village after village of Christians, beheaded their men, and cut off the clitoris' of women who were forced into conversion,and burned down their churches.
Islam teaches the same basic thing to every Muslim, regardless of what sec they belong too. The difference between them is only a matter of a few verses and some hadith.
I have no need to sit down and talk at length with them about their beliefs. I know what they are, and have seen countless times what they are.
What is it about:
Ishaq:208 "When Allah gave permission to his Apostle to fight, the second Aqaba contained conditions involving war which were not in the first act of submission. Now we bound themselves to war against all mankind for Allah and His Apostle. He promised us a reward in Paradise for faithful service. We pledged ourselves to war in complete obedience to Muhammad no matter how evil the circumstances."

Qur'an:8:7 "Allah wished to confirm the truth by His words: ‘Wipe the infidels out to the last.'"
Qur'an:8:39 "So, fight them till all opposition ends and the only religion is Islam."
Ishaq:204 "‘Men, do you know what you are pledging yourselves to in swearing allegiance to this man?' ‘Yes. In swearing allegiance to him we are pledging to wage war against all mankind.'"
Noble Qur'an:2:190 Footnote: "Jihad is holy fighting in Allah's Cause with full force of numbers and weaponry. It is given the utmost importance in Islam and is one of its pillars. By Jihad Islam is established, Allah's Word is made superior (which means only Allah has the right to be worshiped), and Islam is propagated. By abandoning Jihad Islam is destroyed and Muslims fall into an inferior position; their honor is lost, their lands are stolen, their rule and authority vanish.
