Disney presents Toys for Tots with million-dollar check
HOLLYWOOOD, Calif. the feature entertainment event at the El Capitan Theater on Hollywood Boulevard was the Walt Disney Pictures World Premiere of Santa Clause 3 starring Tim Allen. To introduce this heart-warming family motion picture, Mr. Robert Iger, President & CEO of The Disney Company, presented a check for $1,000,000 to Ret. Lt. Gen. atthew T. Cooper, President & CEO of Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, as The Disney Companys 2006 donation to Toys for Tots.
Toys for Tots was created in Los Angeles in 1947 by Major Bill Hendricks. Based on the success of the 1947 pilot program, the U.S. Marine Corps adopted the concept, named it the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program, transformed it into the Marine Corps premiere community action program and directed that local Toys for Tots campaigns be conducted annually, beginning in 1948, in the community surrounding each Marine Reserve Training Center throughout the nation.
In 1948, Walt Disney created the first promotion poster which featured Santa with a bag full of toys. At the bottom of that poster was a small three car train inscribed with the words Toys for Tots. This three car train remains today as the trademark of Toys for Tots. Today, Toys for Tots is one of the nations premiere Christmas charitable undertakings.
The Disney Company was Toys for Tots first National Corporate Sponsor based on contributions made in 1948. Each year thereafter, The Disney Company has been a strong supporter of Toys for Tots; hence has earned the distinction of being the longest standing National Corporate Sponsor of Toys for Tots.
The 2006 donation of $1,000,000 is the largest single cash donation by a corporation in the 59 year history of Toys for Tots.
On behalf of everyone associated with Toys for Tots, the President & CEO of Marine Toys for Tots Foundation extends special thanks to Mr. Robert Iger and his outstanding Disney team for this unequaled cash donation and for holding the distinction as the longest standing National Corporate Sponsor of Toys for Tots.

AL ASAD, Iraq (Dec. 25, 2006) -- Most Marines try their best to avoid improvised explosive devices, but these hard-charging Marines seek them out.
Explosive ordnance disposal technicians with 2nd EOD Platoon, 1st Marine Logistics Group (Forward), counteract IEDs everyday.
The great element of this job is Im able to work tight with my unit, said Sgt. Harry W. Parker, an EOD technician with 2nd Platoon. Were one team and that is it.
Cohesion is important, and EOD units consist of small teams for a reason. The Marines said that in a job with no margin for error, trusting each other is vital.
The three Marines in 2nd Platoon said they joined EOD for a challenge.
Merry Christmas to you too!
Merry Christmas to you too Soaring Feather..
Thank you Dubya
Good Morning Dolly,Mayor,All.
Thanks for the reminder Dolly LOL:)
Hope everyone got all that they asked Santa for.

READ: John 10:22-30
I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. John 10:28
On December 26, 2004, an earthquake shook the whole earth. Many people didnt feel it, but the South Asian region and parts of Africa suffered a devastating tsunami as a result. According to reporter Randolph Schmid, however, No point on Earth remained undisturbed. That earthquake, he tells us, shook the ground everywhere on Earths surface.
The 19th-century Danish philosopher Søren Kierkegaard says that his world was rocked when his religious father told him he had cursed God for the mistreatment he was getting from others. His fathers actions shook Søren so much that he called the event The Great Earthquake. He wondered for the rest of his life if his family was cursed by God for his fathers actions.
We too have had or possibly will have earthquakes in our lives. But its comforting to know that under the worst of circumstances, our faith in God canand willhold us fast. After all, Hes got the whole world in His hands, and that means Hes got you and me, brother and sister, in His hands.
No one, nor any disaster, can snatch us out of our heavenly Fathers hands (John 10:28-29). His grip will hold us into all eternity.
Meg, he may be deployed elsewhere in the Pacific, depending on the results of the huge earthquake near Taiwan this morning...
ALOHA to Meg's nephew...!!
Grandson..Thank You Diva..He is in flight to Hawaii where he is assigned...and I am sure they will not land in an unsafe place.
What I meant was that the Navy may be needed for relief if a tsunami hits the Philippines... although some say that danger has passed .... much as our military was deployed to Indonesia/Sri Lanka et al last year when they were struck by the tsunami. That's what I meant ...
One thing I am not, though, is a Diva...;^)
Sorry I messed up on the grandson/nephew thing...
