The President has spent Christmas at Camp David as has become his tradition tomorrow he will travel to his Ranch in Crawford to spend a few days there before returning to the White House
As there are no new photos today I thought I would do a special on White House decorations since 2001.
Each year the White House is deorated beatitfully for the festive season. This year sees the 6th one since George W Bush has been President.
Today lets look at each year and the wonderful photos and themes portrayed - enjoy.
Probably the most difficult one was 2001 when America was still in shock after 9/11 for this reason I have chosen a photo from that year as today's photo of the Day
Placed in the State Dinning Room, the gingerbread house is a replica of the White House of 1800 when John Adams became the first Presidential resident. Original floor plans were used, but history was fudged a little to allow President Bush's pets Spot, Barney and India frolic on the grounds. Constructed from more than 80 pounds of gingerbread, 30 pounds of chocolate and 20 pounds of marzipan, the sweet home took more than three weeks to build.
hi
Dose going up please wait for all clear before posting or reposting any photos or graphics
Congratulations Dolly toaster winner!!!!!!!!!
Heh Heh Heh..
Thanksgiving & Christmas...
Someone else gets New Years(onyx?) as I will be out of town!
Hey!
I was trying this time!
Thanks, snugs :)
The centerpiece of the Blue Room is the offical White House Christmas Tree. Grown in central Pennsylvania, the 18-foor Concolor fir was donated by Bowersox family.
Situated on the center of the State Dining Room table, seven carolers sing the joy of the Christmas season. White House staff made the dolls and their clothing for this year's holiday celebration
Clusters of snow covered and icicle-laden trees in the East Room accentuate the room's grandeur. The pinecones and icicles are new ornaments this year.
question for anyone.. do they ever eat those gingerbread houses? I know they are for show but I also understand they "keep well".. wondering if when decor goes down, there is a little gingerbread party????
My pleasure hope you had a great Christmas Day Kate
Millie, the beloved English springer spaniel of President George H.W. Bush and Barbara Bush, and her female puppy, Spot, greet guests along the ground floor corridor of the White House. During Millie's first few months of living in the White House, she gave birth to Spot and five others. Spot grew up in Texas with George W. and Laura Bush and their twin daughters. President George H.W. Bush served from 1989 to 1993.
Nelson, the steed that George Washington rode during the Revolutionary War, nobly wears the status as first horse. President Washington was our first president and served from 1789 to 1797
Adorning the Entry Hall mantel are the pets of President George W. Bush and Laura Bush. The Bushes' cat, India "Willie" Bush, and Spot, their English Springer Spaniel, have been part of the Bush pet clan for more than a decade. Barney Bush, a Scottish terrier, was a birthday gift from the President to Mrs. Bush in 2000
decor is a wee bit classier than mine!!!
I am so happy for you. I have taken myself out of the toaster competition for a while. Know why? I have 31 toasters which you know matches my age!!!
Ahhhhh...what a lovely theme for a Christmas Day. The first family have done a wonderful job decorating the White House. They have such good taste.
Hope you had a Merry Christmas, dear Snugs! (((hugs)))
On the southeast mantel are three sheep brought to the White House by President Woodrow Wilson during World War I to keep the lawn of the White House neat and trim. President Wilson served from 1913 to 1921.
Entrances to both the East Room and the State Dining Room from the Cross Hall are surrounded by garlands full of large pine cones, red glass balls, red icicles and red pepper berries
Yeah, it was really nice :) How was yours?
Oooooo..who did those adorable sculptures of the Bush Pets?
Well, I would have been watching the movie but mom's DVD player is fouled up.. I might watch it on one of my "big" TVs..but I might go to bed. Been up/busy since 4...
I have a long way to go to come close to you & others..
