One of the all-time greats. There will never be another one like him. He was innovative, revolutionary, and just plain balls-out funky. He leaves behind a formidable musical legacy which ranks near the top of the all-time list for 20th Century artists.

He had a long and interesting life..
He gained both fame and notoriety..
And he lived hard..
Rest In Peace, James Brown.. You were truly one of a kind..

He was doing appearances. The earlier reports had him cancelling two shows because he had developed pneumonia.

I hope that at some point while attempting recussitation, someone in the hospital yelled at him to GET UP! Get on up!"
No insult or disrespect intended. James Brown was an entertainer, and his job was to bring joy. He was good at it. He was an ecstatic singer, so let his passing be marked with ecstatic song; remembering him with mawkish weeping would be an insult.
Good run, sir. Get on out with your bad self.

He was just on the news doing his annual gift giveaway yesterday here in town.
I liked him and his music. He was also a republican.
To: Gigantor
Oh this is sad news. Rest in peace James Brown.
