Don't look now, but Virginia is seceding again. On Sunday nine Episcopal parishes in Virginia, including the one where George Washington served as a vestryman, announced that they had voted to up and leave the U.S. Episcopal Church to protest its increasingly equal treatment of homosexuals. In 2003 an overwhelming majority of the nation's Episcopal bishops ratified the selection of a gay bishop by the New Hampshire diocese. This past June the church's general convention elevated Nevada Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori to the post of presiding U.S. bishop. Jefferts Schori is the first woman to head a national branch of the Anglican Church. Worse yet, she has allowed the blessing of same-sex couples within her diocese (which includes the ever theologically innovative Las Vegas). . . . . .

Liberals really hate it when people get fed up and vote with their feet. Ruins their whole day, not to mention their best laid plans.
No bias in the media here...
I've read some biased headlines and leading sentences in my life, but this just about takes the cake.
What a vain, self-important, and biased blowhard!
Many religions believe homosexual activity is immoral, including Islam. Lots of religions believe there is such a thing as sinful activity, which by Meyerson's logic should mean that such religions view sinners as unequal. Is the Washington Post now going to denounce every other religion for not believing in "equality"?
....he probably wouldn't even know what one was....and when told, he would have had them arrested and shot as violators of the laws of God and man.
Good grief! What's with these Virginia Churches actually taking their Christian identity seriously! What a bunch of intolerant rubes. / sarc
Fred Barnes belongs to one of those churches. I dont think is so much as they have seceded from the church as the church has seceded from their original teachings.
she has allowed the blessing of same-sex couples within her diocese ****which includes the ever theologically innovative Las Vegas****.
That line says it all.
Sorry, not all of us are attraced by the "theological innovation" that goes on in Las Vegas.
real question is when did "equality" become the main governing law?
Mr. Meyerson,
I have to thank you for the chuckle you so kindly granted me this morning as I read your utterly absurd op-ed regarding the split in the Episcopal church.
If you for one second believe that the Anglicans in President Washington's time would have tolerated the non-sense of a man seeking to marry another man in a religion that strictly forbids it, you're a bigger fool than even this piece would hint at.
Equality? Toss! This has to do with the true nature of family, the divine blessing of such, and the nature of sin--something you apparently have problems even acknowleging.
Oh, that's right! Equality before the Word of God! What was I thinking?!
Thanks for setting us all straight. So when can we expect your criticism of Aquinas to come out?
She doesn't believe in religious freedom?
Looking at the photo at WP and the first name of "Harold". I think she is a he! Or maybe there's more the the story on "page 2".
Apparently not.
I believe this is not true. It is my understanding that the Anglican Communion has effectively expelled the American Episcopal Church (ECUSA), and that ECUSA is no longer considered to be Anglican.
Exactly. He would probably have called it something like "the unnatural abomination" or "practioners of the sin of Sodom."
Yeah, Juan Williams is an Episcopagan too. Go figure.
I think he's saying he's a she-he. Actually just a garden variety faggot.
I don't know that that's been done yet, but it's definitely coming down the pike.
