Episcopalians Against Equality (extreme media bias alert)
The Washington Post ^ | December 20, 2006 | Harold Meyerson

Posted on 12/20/2006 7:13:58 AM PST by WashingtonSource

Don't look now, but Virginia is seceding again. On Sunday nine Episcopal parishes in Virginia, including the one where George Washington served as a vestryman, announced that they had voted to up and leave the U.S. Episcopal Church to protest its increasingly equal treatment of homosexuals. In 2003 an overwhelming majority of the nation's Episcopal bishops ratified the selection of a gay bishop by the New Hampshire diocese. This past June the church's general convention elevated Nevada Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori to the post of presiding U.S. bishop. Jefferts Schori is the first woman to head a national branch of the Anglican Church. Worse yet, she has allowed the blessing of same-sex couples within her diocese (which includes the ever theologically innovative Las Vegas). . . . . .

Either this fool knows nothing about the Episcopal church and the goings-on there for the last forty years, or he chooses to ignore all that and pretend it's just about hating queers so he has an excuse to throw a hissy fit. It's painfully obvious he did no research whatsoever but when you're a flaming liberal trying to meet a deadline, facts don't really matter, only feelings.
I'd respond to his ridiculous column but once I got started, I wouldn't know where to quit.

"Bishop Katharine" is as much as I needed to read.

The rest of us have to clearn up the mess.

See my #43. If you find yourself in the midst of a mess, you might want to point a finger at that abomination.

It doesn't matter at all to me.

I'm no longer there, and neither are some of my friends.

Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails. (Proverbs 19:21, NIV)

I have many things to say about the libs and The Post, however, to publicly post them would not reflect my identity in Christ. (Is this WP writer even an Episcopalian or Anglican?)

"Sorry, not all of us are attracted by the "theological innovation" that goes on in Las Vegas."

What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. We wish any way!

Where is the lack of equality? All persons have a right to marry! Provided that each participant is not already married, is of legal age, and that each participant is of a different sex. So all persons have a right to marry. Nobody is preventing them from marrying. So what is the problem?

I was going to respond to him, too, but then why waste your time on a loony tune. He's not going to listen. He'll dismiss whatever you say.

Reminds of the years I lived in New York. It was common wisdom that you don't look the loonies in the eyes when you encounter them on the subway. (And, BTW, the subways have been loaded with them since they were de-institutionalized from mental institutions in the late 1970s). Once they catch you gazing at them, you have entered their world and there's no telling how they may respond. Ditto for Loony Miss Meyerson. Don't disturb the psycho!

The real question is when did sexual perversion become a civil rights issue?
The real question is when and how Christian churches found justification in the Holy Word to bless, in the name of God, same sex coupling as "marriage"? Not to mention anointing as head of church a homosexual fornicating adulterer (even 2 out of 3 is bad). Someone said they'd enjoy playing chess with Episcopalians who don't know the difference between a bishop and a queen.

Or when did there develop a "sexual minority" with legal protection?

Is the Washington Post now going to denounce every other religion for not believing in "equality"?

They will have to consult their imam and get back to you...
