.......He simply has no peer, save for Bill Clinton, in the ability to extemporaneously explain an idea or beat one back and sound perfectly reasonable in the process."Hard to disagree with this. I'm trying to think of someone but hear only crickets chirping........Fred Thompson, former TN senator comes to mind, but I think it was his way and tone of speaking that made you think he could not be wrong, and he usually wasn't.

If you get a chance to see the MTP session with Newt, you might want to simply to see how he is reinventing things. From my standpoint it's always easy to say we should have done it "this or that way" a few years ago. Much tougher to deal with the situation on the ground now.
Newt claims certain Iraqi leaders have ruled Iraq for 1,300 years and we should be dealing with them instead of how Bremmer did things.
He claims we should have hired Saddam's army and many more things, easy to say after the fact.
Iraq is hopefully a democracy in the works, how it evolves may remain a mystery for many for years, but if we give them the support our generals such as Abizaid suggest it should have a chance to change dictatorships in the mid- east. Long over due.

That is my biggest worry that we as a country do not wake up to the threat of Islamofascism.
I noted how much of your info is very careful not to isolate "all muslims", I think that is a key ingredient to isolating the jihadists.

You're right.
I point directly at jihadis, jihad supporters, jihad financiers and the gray area -- subjects of interest.

Like most DC insiders Newt needs to grasp that doing it the "OLD way" is one of the reasons we got 09-11. Slapping a band aid on a bleeding artery and calling it "fixed" merely delays, does not solve, the emergency. Bush' ways is a lot harder to do in the short term but it has the virtue of actually going for a solution instead of merely kicking the can down to our children or grand children to deal with.

I have to agree with Goldberg about him having no peer, however he is not Presidential and has too much baggage and was seduced by Clinton (Figuratively), and can be quite petulant. He would make a great adviser and/or Cabinet Member, not VP or President. He is too much a pander bear at time with the Rats just to get attention.

Good points about Newtie and his hind sight.
To: MNJohnnie
Exactly the more you analyze what GW has actually done and do a little digging to find out how many jihadis are actually being killed, the more respect you have for our President. At least for me that's the way it is.

Today on the 'FoX News Sunday' TV Interview program first time guest Sen. TED KENNEDY again lied about both the Vietnam & Iraq Wars,
...when he stated that American Soldiers have now been in Iraq longer than they were in South Vietnam.
Sen. TED KENNEDY personally visited us American Soldiers fighting for Freedom in South Vietnam in October 1965:

(See 5th Photo down)
Later on, Amerian Soldiers were out of South Vietnam by the year 1973.
In other words...
...HE JUST KNOWS BETTER..!!!
It was Sen. TED KENNEDY's pushing a post-WATERGATE Congress into cutting-off all U.S. funding for the South Vietnamese to fight for their own Freedom with against Communist invaders,
...and then cutting off all our Medical Aid for them to treat their own resulting casualties with.
Giving for all to sadly see in the End:

Precisely...What's done is done; and I pray that history will place less emphasis on how Iraq was handled than on the view that Afghanistan and Iraq marked the end of the blumenkrieg and the beginning of the long and difficult "hot" war against terror. Whatever one thinks about enough or not enough troops, the first crucial steps to lance the boil have been taken.
My great fear, now, is the possibility of denial leading to a retreat into thumb twirling, another round of weakening the military whilst the fanatics again back off and develop WMD. Actually, Israel may hold the key to these proceedings. The next two years will be critical.

You mean the twit that, after finishing the Bond film told the media he would like to make one where James Bond was with a man. You can have this @$$ hole.
To: PerConPat
I agree. If Israel does not fire up her jet bombers and soon, taking out iran's nuke potential we may have much more on our plate.
