He's been in the hospital off and on many times this year and was apparently fitted with a pace maker in addition to having angioplasty performed. He's had stroke in the past and brushes with pneumonia.
Bottom line: he's old and we don't last for ever.

you can't live forever, but it will be sad when he passes. God bless Ford.

Thank you; I had forgotten that. In the very first election in which I voted, I'm proud to say that I voted for President Ford over that sanctimonious twit of a peanut farmer. I have always thought that Ford, a pragmatist, was treated shabbily by the media and press, following the same tired template that they do for all Republican presidents.

Literally dodged the bullet once and a near bullet (whacko dame with a .45 but not with a round in the chamber) another time. He's had some close one's I'll say. I will recall him for taking on the Khmer Rouge in the Gulf of Thailand over the SS Mayaguez even though Americans were sick and tired of conflict in Southeast Asia at that time.

My first vote for Jerry was in our 7th grade "mock" election. I voted for him as our US House Representative.
Jerry helped get my 1st wife and my eldest son into America while he was House Minority Leader.
That son joined the same BSA Troop in which President Ford earned his Eagle.
I sent Jerry a thank you and a photo of my son in uniform bearing his old troop number on the sleeve.
Jerry responded with a nice letter.
President Ford was loved and respected here in his old Congressional District.
And especially so in the ASA Vet household.

Ford also knew how to use his veto pen too.
He was really more conservative than what people give him credit for.

Ford is a Michigan Boy like Clinton is a New York boy.

This Michigan boy who grew up in his hometown, voted for him, and served under him when he was CinC, claims him as one of ours.

I liked it when he spoke at the 2000 Republican Convention and said. "We've had a Lincoln, a Ford and a convertible Dodge in the White House."
Prayers to the President!
