"The record of Don Rumsfeld's tenure is clear; there has been more profound change at the Department of Defense over the past six years than at any time since the department's creation in the late 1940s.
On his watch, NATO sent its forces to defend a young democracy in Afghanistan more than 3,000 miles from Europe, the first time NATO has deployed outside the North Atlantic area in the history of the alliance."
Most importantly, he worked to establish a culture in the Pentagon that rewards innovation and intelligent risk-taking and encourages our military and civilian leaders to challenge established ways of thinking."
"These changes were not easy to make, but Rumsfelds determination and leadership led to the best equipped, best trained and most experienced military in the world. This man knows how to lead, and he did, and the country is better off for it.
That was my point in asking you to take Fridays. I felt very uncomfortable having to post so late on Fridays.
That's a great picture, Starwise. I love those kinds of Christmas scenes. I've never experienced one that idyllic myself, but I love to look at them.
Cream cheese is for bagels (and maybe cranberry nut bread), but never for muffins. :-)
"You must have come right here after work!"
Yes I did, haven't even changed yet!
People such as those I mentioned are genuine haters of a very rabid variety. They are also genuine Marxist/socialists. We now have an openly socialist senator for the first time in our history, but we also have numerous closet socialists in the House who will now have power.
Most worrisome is that these are people who agree in large measure with the "grievances" the radical Islamists claim to have against "the Great Satan."
I think it is with great sadness that W and Rummy agreed that Rummy had to go. The Dems in the House (particularly Waxman) made it clear that they were going to make life heck - they will anyway, but Rummy was a big target.
It had to be done if they were going to be able to have even a modicum of control over what happens in Iraq. It's sad, but I think it's more proof that both W and Rummy are doing the best they can for our country.
Too bad so many of us don't deserve leaders like these.
You are two hours ahead of us -- and I miss you. But yes, you have lessened my load considerably. The Dose community is about all that's left on FR that I care about, so I didn't like the rushed job I had to do to post a thread on Fridays.
That is most certainly a worry. I see this Barack Hussein Obama as a true danger. He can make Communism sound delightful and he's as close to a Commie as I've seen in quite a while.
Snugs, I love cream cheese. I sometimes have it on my toast for breakfast. We also love it here on baked potatoes instead of butter. I was just longing form some today. Why it's called cheese, I don't know. Sure, it's a milk product, but not cheese.
Great post, speekinout. I especially appreciate your sentiment above.
Waxman, by the way, is yet another of the Marxist/socialist Californians in the House. Yet he almost seems "moderate" compared to people like Watson and Waters.
I agree - nice on onion bagels IMHO
The Dose is our Sanity Island. I am thrilled and happy that I could ease your load. I have such admiration and respect for you along with lots of love!
It's still ugly in the trenches and I am beginning to wonder how long it will last.
The only reason I'm not worried about him, at least in the short term (who knows about 8-12 years from now), is that I doubt he can get the Dim nomination. He could, however, wind up on the Dim ticket. The black community expects some kind of power sharing on the national after all their devotion to the Dims all these years.
Feelings which I most definitely return to you, my friend.
It's still ugly in the trenches and I am beginning to wonder how long it will last.
It will last as long as the childish and selfish run the asylum and have no place to turn their venom except inward. When the next attack comes, as it surely will one day, then we shall see.
He;s sure being touted by MSM, including ESPN.
Ah, another Mac user. By the way, I use Safari, too, and had no trouble with picture #3. Maybe your server is at fault.
I am in the trenches tonight and some of the comments could have been posted by DU members. In fact, they likely are DU members.
