(ILLEGAL) IMMIGRANT MOTHERS ALLOWED BACK HOME (SWIFT)
KHAS TV NEWS ^ | 12/15/08 | Robert Price

Posted on 12/15/2006 3:01:08 PM PST by Kimberly GG

Not all of the suspected illegal immigrants detained in the raid are in Iowa some are back in Grand Island. In cases where married couples with children both worked at Swift and were detained, the mother has been allowed to return to her kids.

One of the alleged illegal immigrants is back at home, but her husband is still with authorities somewhere in Iowa.

The 261 suspected illegal immigrants detained in Tuesday's Swift raid were made up of both men and women, some of whom were married to each other.

If they had kids, the mom could go home.

Thursday News 5 spoke to one of those moms to get her perspective of the raid from the inside.

The mother and father of these two kids worked at Swift for three years before Tuesday's raid.

Their mother is now back at home.

She does not want to show her face or say her name, but through an interpreter, she will talk about the raid.

“Everybody started running - they was hiding,” she said. “They told me we had to run away because immigration was coming.”

She says the ICE agents moved quickly and were to the point.

“Told us to put away the knives and because we had no immigration papers we had to leave. They were so happy because we were going to be deported.”

After spending almost 12 hours with agents, she learned she would be released.

“If they have relatives they will not release them, but here, since we both worked, they let me be with my kids.”

As for her husband, who is still detained…

“Maybe they make him leave, maybe he can stay with a good record, maybe because we have two kids.”

She just says she wants second chance.

“I hope they give me a year, 6 months to fix everything and I can stay with my kids.”

The woman we spoke to is originally from Guatemala.

Another reason she thinks immigration may not deport her is because she came here when she was only 15. Or at least she hopes.

For now she does not see herself looking for new work anytime soon or even leaving the house. Printer Friendly Page

Mothers "allowed home"? No. Home is a FOREIGN country, for them.

In the State of Mexico today in the Museum of Jose Vasconselos, after a long 9 years of paper work, 10 applicants. TEN.... people were given permanent residence in Mexico. Ten new residents a year is a good number. I have no idea why the others who worked long and hard were denied permanent residents. But they will have to leave Mexico and live somewhere else. It works both ways.

The article in the Omaha World Herald a day or two ago said that the mothers were being given 30 days to get their affairs in order and arrange for the care of their children or to take them back with them. It seemed to indicate that the mothers were only being released temporarily so as not to have the children go into a maze of foster care and then who knows what?

I'm going to get your social security# and use it to get a job. Then I'm going to use your credit and get me a new car that I can drive without a license. If I get arrested for this, what odds do you think I'll have that the law will give me a few days free bail to get day care for MY kids??

Why would anyone want these kids dumped into the foster care system? Do the commentors in this thread think that's going to be less of a taxpayer burden than letting an illegal immigrant stay in the country for an extra month?

YES! What you don't get is this is the first step to them getting off Scott free and staying here. IOW no one ever gets deported. That's what always happens

BTW  These people were arrested for identity theft

Somehow, I doubt you'd be making that statement if it was YOUR identity that had been stolen. When American parents commit a crime, they are arrested, children or not. Why should special consideration be given to illegals?

False documentation was the reason for the raid in the first place.

"a good record"?

Does identity fraud constitute a good record?--or is it illegal, just like being in this country illegally? Perhaps Dande could answer that.

Little off subject but, My Wife and I get yearly statements from SSA letting us know what our future benefits will be and how much was put in our accounts. I suggest everyone read these statements carefully to determine if someone is using your identity.

I am not defending the action of releasing the mothers. Was just adding the explanation of it I had read.

"...If I get arrested for this, what odds do you think I'll have that the

From what I've heard on TV, that sort of option is only available for
illegals from Mexico and points south.
O'Reilly's show had a LEO from rural Penn. say that the ICE folks in Philadelphia
told him to cut loose Mexican illegals he detained if they had no outstanding
warrants.

If you were an illegal from Ireland, Canada, etc...if you are picked up
for even minor offenses and found to be an illegal immigrant, you
are held for hearings. As far as I can tell.
