It's apparent that Barr is so anxious to still BE somebody in politics after the Georgia voters threw him out years ago that he takes any job that comes his way......first with the ACLU, now with the spoiler Liberaltarians who've torpedoed many Republican candidates over the years.
Until I see evidence to the contrary, he will still collect his regular pay check from the subversive ACLU while doing his regional gig for the Liberaltarians.
To me, he turned into a weirdo. He cast aside the principles he portrayed to his constituents after he lost his election.
He dissipated his aura from being a house manager in the Clinton impeachment process....and it's almost sad to see him screwing himself downhill after a respectable congressional career.

OOOOOHHH The ACLU won't like that!
Bob needs to post his DNA tests again, this time to prove he isn't a "caveman" or he can continue to "pass" and consult for Geico as a subject matter expert.

Here we sit, actually considering a sorry bunch of RINOs as our candidates Yep. I know we need to stick together and accept differences in the party, but the way Bush is leading this party I'm open for something real. And Guiliani(sp?) and McCain ain't it.

You folks laugh all you want. I'm no Barr fan, but I'm no fan of the "Republican" party right now either. Just like it has been written by many conservative writers, the dems didn't win, the republicans lost. Think about it.
To greatly paraphrase Ronald..."I didn't leave the republican party, the republican party left me". Y'all can go cry in your beers now. I'm through crying and looking around for a better alternative, not just the "lesser of two evils" alternative that the pub party has left us with.

I've been fighting gun grabbers for over 40 years, abortionists ever since they became a problem. If my grandson asks me about queers, of any sort, I will not tell him that it is a viable alternative choice. The "go along to get along" BS is why the GOP is hurting now.
I am all for a strong economy, but far too many republicans are only interested in how much they make, and could not care less about Republican principles. I almost don't care if Hilary gets a chance to tax them into bankruptcy.

who is committed to helping elect leaders who will strive for smaller government, lower taxes and abundant individual freedom. I encourage other Americans from across the political spectrum to join me." Would that the GOP candidates were saying anything even remotely like that!

I am not laughing, and like you I am not a Bob Barr fan, there was a time that I was, his problem is he says one thing and does another (he is a politician).
The Republican Party never left Ronald Reagan, that was the Democrat Party.
Conservatives do not have a "Party" just candidates.
I wish that I could Vote for Ron Paul but he is about 20 miles outside my district, he is not a Republican, and he has voted differently than I would have liked upon occasion but he made those votes because for him to be consistent and true to what he campaigned on he had no other choice and his conscience is clear.
Bob Barr is as much an opportunist as kerry is which is why he is just as big a joke as kerry is.

Judging by many comments, too many miss the implication of this. The GOP is abandoning its base as it slips further left to the center and who knows what further on. Conservatism is becoming a bad word within the GOP as "moderates" as McPain are elevated as best hopes.
Barr may not be the best the GOP had, but he sees what many others see. The Democrats slid into liberalism and socialism long ago, also abandoning conservatism and look at the state of the country now. Where are we headed with the only other major party sliding in the same direction today?
It is conservatism that wins elections, so long as it is offered. It is conservatism that made America great. Liberal socialism will just drag her down to ruin.
If the GOP wishes to become more like Democrats, watch as more and more conservatives seek a party of conservatives hoping to one day elevate a strong third party. In the meantime, Democrats, with the help of all the RINOs, will continue destroying our nation.
Guffaw all you want, but the handwriting is on the wall. Barr is just one indication of that.

Barr is an opportunist and he's just looking for some attention. Don't get your hopes up; the GOP isn't dying, nor is it going to go the way of the the Whigs.
To: nopardons
If it keeps sliding to the center, it may very well go the way of the whigs, or be absorbed by the left.
The only hope for the GOP is to return to conservative stances. That is what got it elected in 1994 and kept it in power 12 years.
Note also, most newly elected Democrats compaigned on conservative issues, although I highly doubt they will keep them in office.
To me, a party is secondary to my conservative values. That is what I expect, if I remain a Republican. That is why I became a Republican.

Smaller taxes, less government and more individual freedom is what the GOP
ought to be about.
The sad fact of the matter is that none of the main GOP candidates are talking about that at all! The GOP has pushed out libertarians, and many others on the right. Barr is just one of the more notable ones...but this is not an isolated case...just luck at the last election.

I view those RINOs of which you speak as nothing more than cheap democrats. I also believe that tax increases are the least of our worries in America. It appears we have lost our moral compass and the consequences are dire.
