Kerry calls Bush refusal of dialogue with Iran, Syria "a mistake"
"Kerry says he wants to explore what might "affect behavior" in the region, including problems involving Iraq, Israel and Lebanon. He says Syria plays a role in each of those cases.
The White House Thursday called trips to Syria by US lawmakers "inappropriate," because they give a public relations victory to the country accused of fueling crises in Iraq, Lebanon and the Palestinian territories."
Looks like Kerry himself admits it, so he most definitely should be prosecuted under the Logan Act.
How many times must a Leftist asshole like Kerry, Carter, Nelson, Durbin, Kennedy, etc., etc. etc. behave in a manner in conflict with the law and National Interests before they meet with the consequences?
Lawmakers are not above the law....
The only laws the bastards seem interested in enforcing, are those that keep them in office or keep THEIR personal ass safe.
We are served by an inappropriately arrogant bunch of incompetent overreaching underachieving assholes...
They will be the death of us all..
Semper Fi
Well, I'll ask it. Why won't they be prosecuted under the Logan Act they are openly violating?
I weep for my Republic. And...I don't want to hear any crap about the take over by the dems this last election cycle. The frikkin' pub party isn't any better.
FEH!
FMCDH(BITS)
Good God.
What have we become, when our OWN LEGISLATORS are making nice with people who not only want to see our servicemen killed and maimed, but are actively engaged in doing so?
I am simply at a loss for words.
Wouldn't it be nice if we had an Administration (and Party) who wasn't afraid to act?
*sigh*
Yes, Logan Act it is.
They always claim they're doing some "innocent" fact-finding thing, but it is so clear that they are trying to give these foreign governments the idea that they, and not Bush, are the ones in power and the ones who are capable of negotiating. Personally, I think travel by private individuals to these countries should be forbidden.
The left is very good at this tactic of simply ignoring the actual government in power. That was what AMLO tried to do in Mexico, but I think the Mexican left had first been encouraged by what they saw the Dems getting away with here (however, the Mexican left pushed it a little too far and got slapped down). After the 2004 election, IIRC, Kerry swanned around the world acting as if he was the one who had been elected - and sadly enough, he was received by many governments in Europe as if this had been the case. I'm sure Assad is just loving it.
Looking at this from across the country, IMO Katherine Harris might have stood a chance if she had received support from the Bush family.
Well, I'm not questioning their patriotism. Why question something that doesn't exit.
The President could exercise some executive authority and cancel Nelson's passport. Keep him out of the country until after the Senate meets to establish chairmanship of each committee next year. Kerry would come running home without visiting Assad.
Must be the same scoundrels who met with Hezbollah recently and made a favorable impression on the terrorists.
This is remarkable hubris. These legislators are now usurping the executive role in Syria and Cuba. It is as though the Demoncrats have brushed Bush aside and are trying to make their own foreign policy. Such confusion is bound not to end well.
"the senators are defying and undermining the official us policy and are giving aid and comfort to our enemies."
oh no they are not. don't you know that mr. bush stole the election and his administration is not ligitimate and that the members of the shadow government who go to syria are actually the real government and that they are working against the real enemy.....the bush administration? don't you know that?
/sarcasm off/
Isn't this the same Nelson who defeated a Christian conservative candidate Kathy Harris, who the Repubs and their queer boy mailman would not support.
They were elected or re elected. That was their goal. They said what they thought the people would believe.
If any of the fools that voted for them, voted for them because they campaiganed on being for lower taxes, for private ownership of firearms,or for National security they deserve what they get.
The rest of us are stuck with them.
By the way, just as there is no such thing as a moderate muslim, there is no such thing as a moderate democrat.
Anyone surprised by this game being played by Democrats with inflated egos? The quislings are frothing to stab America in the back while trying to elbow for position on the Democrat hunt for POTUS and VP.
A snip from Bill Bennett about same...........
And all this before President Bush even made a public speech about Iraq to the U.N. or anyone else.
Given that Bill Nelson, Kerry, Specter et al are filthy pondscum, the fact remains that the administration continues to make it easy for these usurpers to trample on the nation's aims. To wit: "The point is that, even lending a further specter of legitimacy to that government undermines the cause of democracy in the region," said Mr. Snow.
No. The point is, Tony you pansy, that "these senators are hindering and interfering with the foreign policies of this nation. They are doing harm to America's war effort." What's so hard about telling the truth at long last, admitting that the "loyal opposition" has evaporated and we are left with an opposiiton that is not loyal, nor even particularly American?
This "government" is out of control and it is because of a failure of leadership by the executive. No more and no less. I know the elections have emboldened the dirtbag contingent, and mental defectives like those mentioned above are feeling grandiose, but the power still resides in the executive. Bush needs to use it or this whole fricking effort will fall apart.
This is plain sabotage we are witnessing, and all the executive can do is murmur about "the cause of democracy in the region." America's domestic future is more at stake right now than democracy in the mideast, and I don't think the executive even sees it coming.
