NEW HAVEN The city unveiled a new policy for how police interact with illegal immigrants in New Haven that is akin to the militarys famous "dont ask, dont tell" approach. A new general order at the Police Department forbids officers from inquiring about a persons immigration status unless theyre investigating criminal activity.

City police, however, are instructed not to serve administrative warrants filed by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement that are filed in the national criminal database. The title really got to me....."law-abiding illegals". If these people are "illegal aliens" then they certainly aren't law-abiding.
Also, the last paragraph is apalling! Now the New Haven PD is deciding not to serve federal warrants! All federal funding to New Haven should be withheld immediately. If the city won't obey federal law they shouldn't benefit from any federal funding.

There is no such thing as a "Law Abiding Illegal Alien".
Every stinking one commits ID theft - and that's just the start.
Each and every day that they are here, they commit crimes that would have any US Citizen doing, at the minimum, 20 years in State and/or Federal prison. And if tried and convicted on all counts of their crimes, well over 100 years.
Law abiding my a_ _.

Law-abiding illegal aliensHuh????

We in America have to move past the 'illegal' part when talking about 'illegals'. After all, soon the 'illegals' will be more 'legal' than a US born citizen. There are varying degrees of criminality and demanding 'illegals' be expected to obey the law, isn't reasonable. We Americans have to realize how unreasonable we have been, and allow our nation to be overrun with people who shouldn't be here. We Americans have no right to this nation, and besides 'illegals' are the backbone of this nation according to our congresscritters and our president. Remember Americans, our laws aren't worthy of being enforced, unless of course you aren't an 'illegal'.

Surreal, but hardly unique -- and hardly the most gaster-flabberin' either. A few months ago the local teevee outlet had a news bit about how some "activists" (or whatever TF they called themselves) were complaining about how they (the illegals) were being made to feel like "second class citizens."
My jaw stopped working for about thirty seconds after I read that (I get the email alerts from them). Then, I said some things I shall not repeat here.
The gall... the sheer arrogance is beyond astounding.
What next? Burglars bitching about how they're made to feel like unwelcome guests?

(We've traded the Rule of Law for the Law of Rule.)
Here we go, from May 25, 2006. I will confess that I misremembered some of the details, but at the same time, there is no denying that the "not U.S. citizens" in question are by and large the illegals, who are, after all, the target of this type of measure -- and, the only ones with a stake in preventing its implementation.
LICENSE BILL
There's all kinds of information about us on our drivers licenses, and soon they might even tell whether or not we are U.S. citizens. There is now a bill pending in the state house that would put our citizenship status on our driver's licenses. Supporters say the bill would help with homeland security and other identification related issues. Critics of the bill say it could make people who are not U.S. citizens feel they are being treated like second-class citizens.
The oxymoronic irony in "it could make people who are not U.S. citizens feel they are being treated like second-class citizens" wraps the needle around the peg. It is beyond me how someone with enough brains to use a keyboard could type something like that with a straight face. All I can conclude is that the reeducation campaign is just about complete. Doublethink has been embraced.
I was tempted to write the station and point out to them that for "people who are not U.S. citizens", it would be a step UP for them to "feel they are being treated like second-class citizens."
It's like a convicted murderer complaining that having his criminal history made part of the public record makes him feel like a jaywalker.
In the end, I didn't bother writing anything to anyone. Why bother? You can't reason with pod people.

It's not that simple. First you need citizenship in another country.
