TOPEKA, Kan. The chairman of the House Armed Services Committee is calling for a deal to get striking workers at Goodyear's Topeka plant back on the job.The plant makes tires for Humvees, the military's workhorse vehicle in Iraq and Afghanistan.
About 12-thousand Goodyear workers in the United States and Canada have been on strike since October, including those at the Topeka plant.
Congressman Duncan Hunter of California says production is down about 35 percent, creating a shortage of tires for Humvees.

Good, upstanding, patriotic unionists pulled this crap during WWII, too.
Oh that useful Union. /sarcasm
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to notice the Chinese names on new tires out there. It ain't the 50's anymore boys.
The Unions are simply behaving like the political party they support: treasonous.
Fire the bastards and deny them Federal benefits...
The tires can be purchased elsewhere in a hurry..
If the Government doesn't know how to make that happen, they can call me.

Those (Goodyear) Humvee tires are pretty specific. If I am not mistaken the only other manufacturer of a 37" load range E tire with a "mud" tread pattern that will fit on factory Humvee rims without rubbing on body / inner fenderwells is Parnelli Jones.
Good Ole American Unions
The load class "E" tires on the Humvees from all reports are inadequate... with the added armor they are already over the "fully loaded" weight they were designed for before the first soldier hops onboard... I've heard reports of these overweight vehicles shredding tires in as little as 300 miles.. Unions ruined Firestone (the 500 and the tire used on the Explorer) and this really doesn't surprise me ... I think the military needs to contact all tire company's that make big truck radials and get bids RIGHT NOW, they should have at least a six month supply warehoused.
