Lab in lacrosse case found many DNA sources (DUKELAX)

A private laboratory hired by the prosecution in the Duke lacrosse case failed to report that it found DNA from multiple males in the accuser's body and underwear, according to a defense motion filed today. The lab, DNA Security of Burlington, found that the DNA did not match the three defendants, their lacrosse teammates or anyone else who submitted their DNA to police, including the accuser's boyfriend.

The new evidence emerged in thousands of documents handed over to the defense in October.

Not June, more like late April early May. This whole thing is just mind blowing. There was a guy on another board talking about seeing her still dancing a short while ago, if that is true, I guess even pregnancy isn't going to stop her.

As for Jakki...my kids were laughing because there was a point were she/he/it was pausing and I said "Cue the tears" and none came for a while and after looking off into space for awhile the tear finally came and I said ok, now you can answer the question...kids were laughing at how fake the whole thing looked.

Anybody know when the judge said he would rule on the motions?

Next hearing is February 5th. That's right February 5th. I don't know how Judge Smith could have read one or two of these motions and not wonder what in the hell is going on. Smith's slow pace in this case is appalling.

I can't wait for the players to sue the hell out of Lab Corp.

So Meehan was afraid he'd be sued for disclosing that 43 players were excluded by the DNA?

Sure.

Did you have fun??

It wasn't Lab Corp. It was DNA Security that did the second tests.

That's similar to what I read....There's a small gap in there AND that's with the most sensitive test.

Think about it. Why did they take a pregnancy test in the first place? OR did she ask them to do it?? Those swimmers are slooooooow. She wouldn't have been pregnant immediately after the rape.

Well, it's fine with Nifong; then he doesn't have to put a pregnant FA on the stand.

Well I hope they sue them too. ;)

As I understood it, he was worried about the privacy concerns of the other males whose DNA was found who were NOT members of the lax team.

1) Meehan was put on the stand and examined. Meehan said that he discussed ALL the results with Nifong. Meehan says that it was Meehan's idea to exclude any DNA results that did not relate to the lax team specifically because of "privacy" concerns. Meehan said that doing that violated DNASI protocols. Meehan said Nifong agreed that the extra results should not be included. This produced the only outburst in the court room.

It might have been his idea but Nifong went along with it. Call in the FEDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He was worried that the 43 players how had a cloud hanging over their heads about the DNA testing -- especially since the "she named one other player" rumor was out there -- wouldn't want the world to know they weren't included in the results?

I call BS on that.

Besides, he testified that he gave Nifong exactly what Nifong asked for.

Meehan claims Nifong never made such a specific request but instead went along with what Meehan proposed to do.

Maybe Nifong would like to put the pregnant hooker on the stand. After all it would be hard for her to hid under tables with that big belly.

Do you believe Nifong only got the 3 names then?

"Mr. Nifong specifically wanted us to say if the reference specimens matched any of the evidence. That's what we gave him."

I am still reading to catch up on this thread, but this quote by Meehan is proof again that Nifong only wanted to know about evidence that would incriminate the LAX players, and not any that would show that CGM was lying all along (IOW not doing his job in searching for justice, but rather looking for a case to help him politically). I think Nifong thinks that if he didn't see any evidence that would point to someone other than a Duke LAX player, then he can deny knowing that it was there, thus maintaining plausible deniability. However, I think it may be possible to catch Nifong up in this with Meehan's testimony.

As I understand it, none of the identities of the contributors of the DNA which was actually found are known. How do you protect the privacy of an unknown person?

Well regardless of the Meehan spin, the met, they agree to suppress evidence and thus the conspired and in fact obstructed justice. The NC AG or the USDJ should have Nifong arrested this afternoon.

Meehan was asked that and had no real answer.
