An Inconvenient Truth (Dirty Bomb Plot in London?)
Canadian Free Press ^ | 12/11/2006 | William John Hagan

Posted on 12/12/2006 9:39:06 AM PST by Rutles4Ever

Alexander Litvinenko, a former officer of the KGB and its more recent incarnation known as the FSB, is a perfect example of an intelligence officer who transferred his loyalties from his country, and the people he was entrusted to serve, to the “enemy” for reasons other than monetary gain...His areas of expertise included counter-terrorism and organized crime. For reasons unknown, Litvinenko became a supporter of the Islamic terrorists leading the rebellion in the separatist region of Chechnya, despite the fact that they had murdered hundreds of his fellow Russians.

[SNIP]

The fact that Litvinenko recently died as a result of Polonium 210 must raise the possibility that he was somehow accidentally exposed to the substance during the construction of a radiological device similar to the one built by Chechen terrorists in 1995...an assassination carried out by a former member of the KGB, the current FSB, or Russian organized crime would likely be done in a stealth fashion; one that maximized the chances of eliminating the target while allowing the perpetrator to escape undetected.

[SNIP]

The “dirty bomb” theory is one of the most likely means of exposure...Litvinenko was not involved in any business that would have had a legitimate reason to use Polonium 210. He was, however, intimately involved with a Chechen terrorist organization that had, in the past, made a “dirty bomb” from radioactive material similar to Polonium 210. The possibility, therefore, exists that Litvinenko was at some point in a location where Polonium 210 was being used to assemble a terrorist weapon. Such a prospect is far more disconcerting then your simple, run of the mill, Kremlin-ordered “hit” of a political dissident; and it is a possibility which should be explored by the British government and the civilized world.

This was my first reaction to the poisoning affair when it broke. My theory is that Litvinenko, working for the Chechens, was smuggling the Polonium 210 for use in a radioactive "dirty" bomb in London (or perhaps elsewhere in Europe). This angle would implicate the Russians since the isotopes would be traced back to the nuclear plant from which they originated in Russia, unless the Chechens could be caught red-handed in the act. If and until the actual culprit (the Chechens) could be sorted out, the months following would make for some amazing theatre in the genre of "foreign crisis".

This batch of polonium that poisoned these smugglers probably has only about two months left on shelf-life. Whoever has it is going to use it or lose it.

Did it ever make any sense that Putin would do something so sloppy? And after that when one considers every place Polonium 210 has shown up.... you gotta re-think the KGB angle. Unless you look to the MSM and then facts don't matter.

It really didn't make sense, which is why I favor the "work accident" theory. That, and the fact he's converted to Islam.

Sorry, I don't by this. Litvinenko has simply gone the way that others before him who have embarrassed the Kremlin. The fact that it was "sloppy" only means the Kremlin simply intended to show it could do it with impunity and that western appeasers would fall over themselves to find somebody else to blame.

Funny, we haven't come very far from poisened umbrellas at all.

Too much publicity...for the Kremlin to be involved. I think the dirty bomb sounds plausible or he was murdered by his Islamic Chechen buddies-they are animals. I hope Russia nails them-murderous scum-imagine killing children at school.

Even if it wasn't "sloppy", the guy would either just disappear or show up in the Thames with a bullet in the back of his head. Putin wouldn't give him a couple of weeks in the hospital to talk to the world and point the finger at him. This material isn't cheap. Whoever took delivery is intending on using it. My hope is that this has so compromised whatever was being planned, it was simply discarded somewhere safe. The alternative is chilling, especially since this stuff can be aeresolized.

What impunity? The isotopes trace directly back to Russia.

I was/am also of a similar opinion

I had been wondering why in the world if the Russians wanted to kill this guy, why do in a so public way that leads back to them?...

There are far easer ways to kill one man quietly, and the Russians aren't so stupid to pin the killing on themselves unless they where making a public statement...and politically it didn't seem this was the time and place for such a public statement....It doesn't compute

"The alternative is chilling, especially since this stuff can be aeresolized. "

Ah, I was wondering about that. I heard that this stuff is relatively harmless in that you can stand next to it and it won't do much harm (the radiation can be blocked by something as thin as a piece of paper). The danger only occurs if it enters your body, where it destroys tissues immediately. So if it's aerosolized I can see how it would get into peoples' systems.

I absolutely agree with you.

Litvinenko was anti-Putin and a muslim. He was very likely involved in a "dirty bomb" terrorist plot that went horribly wrong. When he realized the gig was almost up, he decided to be a Muslim martyr. Funny how imminent death will focus your mind. He was almost able to kill 2 birds with one stone, himself (accidentally) and Putin's invincibility.

That's the way I see it.

As Litvinenko's father confirmed to the press, Litvinenko was a convert to Islam who requested a traditional Islamic burial.

There is little doubt in my mind now that Litvinenko was an Islamofascist who inadvertently botched a dirty bomb operation.

If true, he died exactly the death he deserved.

Even if Putie confessed to the UN general assembly, no one would do so much as call him a bad name.

Here is the issue I have with this article: The weapon would have to be constructed. The alpha particle would have to be in a "dry" state - meaning it would be better delivered if it were a dust vice a liquid. Since Polonium 210 is a heavy particle it would have a very short airborn duration.

Since our friend, who is now deceased, was hospitalized, I would assume he was not contaminated during construction, but he was poisoned by imbibing said material in a liquid state.

Polonium is odorless and colorless. In water such a material would be indecipherable to the victim, because it was most likely involved with a prophylactic (vehicle for delivery) most likely a juice or a mixed drink.

How long was the guy hospitalized? Had he come in contact with an alpha emitter or a beta emitter, he would have suffered some form of noticeable rad poisoning - hair loss, lesions to the skin, etc.

In my unhumble, and uninformed opinion - this guy was whacked.

Fascinating story.

Does anyone have info about the article which mentioned three coin sized "objects" found in his gut with x-rays? I never read a followup. Was an autopsy ever done? I saved this article if anyone needs the reference.

Incidently, one of the objects was reported to be "possibly ruptured."

What if he was "muling" the stuff into England like a drug smuggler, this time with a glowing large intestine? Stuff a condom of the material up his ***. It leaks and now he's gone.
