For those whose nature it might be to read my postings and then try to puzzle out an interpretation from my Freeper handle, NGC6822, I offer you these reflections:

1. Some may conclude that NGC means, “No-good Conservative.”
2. Others may see in the letter abbreviation, “Neo-Gothic Cretin.”
(I would really be steamed about the latter French reference to imbeciles living on Crete, though, because I have a lot of good friends there, and they’re a lot more clever than you think.)
3) Or you could accept my personal explanation, first understanding that my beautiful, loving, Belgian wife and I like to travel, and for relaxation I read articles and books about physics, the nature of matter and energy, the origin of the universe, and in particular astronomy. Such readings have eventually brought my attention to NGC6822 which is a very small galaxy, 1.6 million light-years beyond the outer rim of our Milky Way in the direction of the constellation Sagittarius. It’s not pretty, with only the beginnings of one pathetically diminutive, deformed arm, and a strange box-like structure, but it’s well out in the darkness by itself, and not remotely in the neighborhood of the famous, gargantuan Andromeda galaxy with all her surrounding swarm of sister galaxies. So with no children to visit, and if things get much worse on this planet, NGC6822 is our dream of where we would like to go with our faithful little cat.
