A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Did you bake cookies today?

Yep, and I'm still baking. I made chocolate walnut sugar cookies, chocolate chip cookies and am taking a break before I start in on the M&M cookies. I am sending some off to my nieces on the coast. They are both career women types who probably haven't had a homemade cookie in years. :-)

None of mine look as festive as the doctor's pretty cookies, but they are good, if I do say so myself. I've sampled a few. LOL.

I'll send you my address. LOL :) Sounds delicious! I found a few recipes on line I'll try making them with my daughter. The past years we did the sugar cookies. I don't like them. They get so hard they could break a tooth. Could it be me? Or the recipe? ;)

An all time favorite is 'Break forth, O beauteous heavenly light' written by Johann Rist, in 1641 (inspired by Isaiah 58) the music was later added by Johann Sebastian Bach.

'The Nativity Story'

Break forth, O beauteous heavenly light

Break forth, O beauteous heavenly light,
And usher in the morning;
O shepherds, shrink not with afright,
But hear the angel's warning.
This Child, now weak in infancy,
Our confidence and joy shall be,
The power of Satan breaking,
Our peace eternal making.

This night of wonder, night of joy,
was born the Christ, our brother;
he comes, not mighty to destroy,
to bid us love each other.
How could he quit his kingly state
for such a world of greed and hate?
What deep humiliation
secured the world's salvation!

Come, dearest child, into our hearts,
and leave your crib behind you!
Let this be where the new life starts
for all who seek and find you.
To you the honor, thanks, and praise,
for all your gifts this time of grace;
come, conquer and deliver
this world, and us, forever.

Think I need to make a correction on the last post, the song was inspired by Isaiah 9

Thank you all for your kind words about my effort here. I truly enjoyed doing it.

Thanks to everyone, too, for their contributions to this really fun thread. The music has been awesome.

God, I wish I could be there so no one came away disappointed!

Yes, that is my wish too. Every military man and woman returning home should know beyond a doubt that they are returning to a grateful America and that what they did was important and appreciated. There should be ticker tape parades and waving flags greeting them all. They are heroes - they are my heroes.
