CNN’s (Jack) Cafferty on Dems Rejecting Push to Impeach Bush: ‘Strange’

CNN’s Cafferty on Dems Rejecting Push to Impeach Bush: ‘Strange’

Posted by Scott Whitlock on December 11, 2006 - 17:32.

Jack Cafferty, a vociferously anti-Bush CNN contributor, on Monday spoke approvingly of an impeachment bill introduced by outgoing Congresswoman, and fellow Bush hater, Cynthia McKinney. He found it "strange" that, unlike McKinney, so many Democrats are unwilling to consider impeachment. What’s strange is that Cafferty would cite McKinney as a rational source of information. This is, after all, a woman who previously wondered if President Bush knew about 9/11 before it happened, attacked a Capitol Hill police officer and whose supporters blamed Jews for the Congresswoman’s 2006 primary defeat:

Jack Cafferty: "...Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney introduced a bill to impeach President Bush. It’s strictly symbolic and has no chance of going anywhere. She lost her congressional seat and is on her way back to civilian life. But McKinney isn’t the only person who thinks President Bush may have done things that rise to the levels of high crimes and misdemeanors. And yet, the incoming House Speaker, Nancy Pelosi, has said that impeachment of the President is, quote, ‘off the table.’ It’s all kind of strange."

Some might also find it odd to reference Cynthia McKinney legislation and then wonder why nobody is taking it seriously.

A transcript of the complete segment, which aired at 4:11pm on December 11, follows:

Wolf Blitzer: "Let’s go to Jack Cafferty. He’s standing by in New York. Another good week, Jack. Hi."

Jack Cafferty: "How you doing, Wolf? On her way out the door last week, Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney introduced a bill to impeach President Bush. It’s strictly symbolic and has no chance of going anywhere. She lost her congressional seat and is on her way back to civilian life. But McKinney isn’t the only person who thinks President Bush may have done things that rise to the levels of high crimes and misdemeanors. And yet, the incoming House Speaker, Nancy Pelosi, has said that impeachment of the President is, quote, ‘off the table.’ It’s all kind of strange. The incoming House Judiciary Chairman, John Conyers, had earlier sponsored a bill to investigate grounds for possible impeachment. Now, Conyers has backed off and agreed with Pelosi to rule out impeachment. Jesse Jackson wrote last week that even if Conyers won’t consider impeachment of President Bush, he, quote, ‘has a duty to convene serious hearings,’ unquote, on the President’s claims and what Jackson calls abuses to our Constitution. A poll that was taken right before the midterm elections showed that 28 percent of Americans say impeachment of President Bush should be a top priority. 23 percent say it should be a lower priority. And 44 percent say it shouldn’t happen at all. So here’s the question this hour: ‘Is it wrong for the incoming Congress to simply rule out the impeachment of President Bush?’ E-mail your thoughts on that to CaffertyFile@cnn.com or go to CNN.com/CaffertyFile. Wolf?"

Oh my beloved. The "Boom" starteth! Soon the'memo.' Soon "Deep Throat." Soon the anguished left wing cries of "intolerable acts." The 'DEMAND' for impeachment-BOOM, BOOM, BOOM!

No way to win a war quite like starting a witch hunt against your Commander-in-Chief, eh?

Kind of like Coca-Cola publicizing a study to see if it rots out your teeth.

I'm amazed that Democrats have the tactical good sense to avoid this pitfall. That's definitely not been the norm for them. Maybe they learned something from the Clinton impeachment? Alternatively, they could just be looking to hold this over Bush's head for the next 2 years.

It's fitting that the crazy idiot Cafferty goes along with Mz. McKinney. They belong in adjacent rooms in the nut house.

The Dems are trying to impeach Bush, despite their promise that they would not. It's their first broken promise.

By the time this impeachment thing gets close to a vote, the hearings will be well into the next election cycle. Voters won't see any point in impeaching a guy who's gone in a few more months anyway.

The "ick" factor works against incumbents, and the Dems have a boatload of Reps who face their first re-election campaign in seats that the GOP wants back.

In the words of the Mafia movie (insert accent here), "It's bad for business."

The problem with an inquiry into the decision to invade Iraq is that it involved the enthusiastic support of so many leading Democrats in Congress. Much of the policy, estimates and intelligence was inherited by Bush from Clinton along with a CIA director who claimed that Iraqi possession of weapons-of-mass-destruction was "slam dunk." Worst of all for Democrats, an investigation will reveal all the real WMD and terrorists links that the news media have covered up.

You see it is the simple lack of understanding of what we are up against that fuels these idots fire... Impeach him for what. If they talk about hyped intel that is a joke Every prominent Dem said exactly what the President said. If they are talking about Terrorist Surveillance oh yeah that goes over good after latest info reveals Clinton was spying for fun on Princess Diana and Bush is trying to stop terror. Anyway I do think investigation would allow the President to go on offensive instead of playing defense.

The moonbats consider Bush to be the real threat to America. Not Osama Bin Laden or the Iranian mullahs.

This Cafferty is a real idiot. The Republicans impeached Clinton, and look what good it did them. None. Apart from the fact that the Democrats in Congress are at least slightly smarter than Cafferty, there are no reasons to impeach President Bush. He has been exercising authority that Congress has given him.

As long as the news media aims its product towards the 20% or so of the public who are leftist, the news media is going to continue to decline. And it deserves it. It should give up the bias, and try actual journalism.

I remember downloading the Star report the moment it was available online. I scanned through it over and over trying to find something worth the paper I printed it on. What a total waste of everything the impeachment was. Worse, in fact.

This guy is just a much older version of NUT Olberman on MSNC. I am in my late 40's and for those of you much younger I have never seen more immaturity as there is in the MSM today. They speak and write like spoiled SDS students from ancient time. I am amazed. There is nothing of Conservative Nuttiness on MSM TV like these childish liberal to socialist rants. Does this old man realize how stupid he looks and sounds?
