VOTERS 'ACQUITTED' ALAN: GOP'er [Hevesi - New York]

The voters may have saved Alan Hevesi.

The state comptroller's 57 percent re-election win last month over Republican rival Christopher Callaghan just might allow him to stay on the job - even though investigators concluded that he illegally used an office employee to chauffeur his wife.

A New York magazine story that will hit newsstands tomorrow points to a 1987 article in the Fordham Urban Law Journal about impeachment and removal proceedings written by Republican state Sen. Michael Balboni of Long Island.

The senator, a young lawyer at the time, reported that courts have held that if the public re-elects an official, even after receiving "full disclosure" of that official's misconduct, the election win "is viewed as an exoneration"

How come Nixon didn't know about this type of 'exoneration by landslide vote' in 1972?

Corruption doesn't bother Dems in the least. The only thing that actually matters to the Dim party is (for reasons I do not understand) committment to abortion, regardless of the actual position of the elected officer and whether or not he is actually in a position to influence policy in this area. And unfortunately New York - NYC and Buffalo and other urban/academic areas - have a large contingent of these voters.

He could be caught running a gay boy hooker service out of his official residence, filling his freezer full of big bucks, and he'd still be elected if he toes the Dem party line on abortion. Truthfully, I don't know why this is so important to the money bags and the opinion makers in the D party, but it obviously is.

As a by-stander-voter in New York City, I can only laugh at these scumbags. The rat runs this state. I hope they keep him in office as a reminder of how corrupt the rat is.
