The NYP has a staff of bright young things who do nothing but write headlines. That is something Murdoch brought from tabloidland in Oz when he took over the paper. Remember the classic "Headless Body Found in Topless Bar"? That's them at work.

I believe many read FR because the replies here contain some great humor and good logic. Of course, we have our flamers, but when the whole site is reviewed you will find its content is far, far, far above the dummie place.

I used to dismiss the Post as a tabloid...now it's one of my favorite papers. It's sold in Pittsbugh by a few vendors -- when I see it, I usually pick up a copy.

If they're surrender monkeys, it would be Pelosi's or Reed's.

I'd like to see most of these rags go the way of the do-do bird. But the Post -- I'd make an exception.

I notice they didn't use Vernon Jordan (yes, *that* Vernon Jordan) for this.

If anyone wants the complete findings there's a PDF copy downloadable at Baker Institute

Republicans

In addition to Jim Baker, "Republicans" are:

    * Sandra Day O'Connor, former Supreme Court Justice
    * Lawrence Eagleburger, former Sec of State
    * Edwin Meese III, former US Attorney General
    * Alan K. Simpson, former Wyoming Senator

    * Bob Gates, incoming Sec of Def, replaced in Nov by Eagleburger
    * Rudy, replaced by Meese in May; was too busy

Democrats

In addition to Lee Hamilton, Democrats are:

    * Vernon Jordan, Jr., business executive / Monica payoff crew
    * Leon E. Panetta, former White House Chief of Staff
    * William J. Perry, former US Secretary of Defense
    * Charles S. Robb, former Governor of Virginia and former U.S. Senator

Thanks for posting...When I saw it at the newsstand this a.m., I laughed hysterically all the way to work.

Contrast it to the Daily News showing a photo of W and the caption, "Historic report damns Bush's Iraq Strategy and warns this is...His Last Chance."
