Nice to hear they consciously left the world Victory, or synonyms like win out of the report. It's such an inflammatory word.

Given their midset, instead of VE/VJ Day in WWII, we would have had GE Day (Grovel before the Enemy Day).

The terrorists will come for us now.

Those terrorists' minds can't even comprehend the consequences of a REALLY pissed America. Think Dresden times 10,000. And that would just be with our superb and ever-brave military. A full-blown USA Nascar Jihad would have them pissing their sheets. We're talking "open season" on the bad guys. We would exterminate them faster than the Dodo Birds of Mauritius.

Olbermann will be drooling on himself.

Isn't that normal for him? All of his dates seem to concur.

Why is Matthews in hospital?

Dehydration from kissing himself?

Just a guess.

To the Corrupt, Incorrigible, Evil Iraq Surrender Group:

"MY WORDS ARE YOUR PAST,
"MY QUESTIONS ARE SIMPLE:
"WITH WHOM DO YOU ALLY?
"WITH THE TERRORISTS OF SYRIA?
"WITH THE TERRORISTS OF IRAN?
"WITH THE TERRORISTS OF SAUDI ARABIA?
"WITH ISLAMIC MURDERERS AND BLOOD-DRINKERS?
"WITH THOSE WHO ROUTINELY SLAUGHTER INNOCENTS?
"HOW WILL YOU MEET YOUR END?
"AS NO MORE THAN A SECRET SOCIETY?"

I want to read the 79 points before I come to a judgment. I want to read what it says about the interplay of Iraqi forces and their loyalty to sectarian forces and the Iraq nation. If it does not address the issue of civil war, and how to cope with it, other than chatting with two members of the Axis of Evil, than the report is essentially worthless. The issue is how to pressure Iraq forces to cast aside, mitigate, sectarian tendencies, and if they don't, how to move to partition de facto in a rather "orderly" way. If that issue was not dealt with, then it missed the point.

I did note the suggestion that Israel give up the Golan Heights. That might be OK after Syria takes measures to castrate Hezbollah, and cuts off the flow of bad stuff to Iraq, and then gets the reward. That of course won't happen. If it is handed over, with Syria undertaking to do something in the future, that of course is nutter.

I'm buying a gun.

IMO, you should buy one for yourself and one for a conservative friend who can't afford one.

Amazing how Sandra Day O'Connor's impact and legacy in so many areas of American life can be summed up in a single word: Enabler

Or stooge.

Tim Russert is on MSNBC saying that the reports mentions giving the Golan Heighst to Syria????????

Like this has a lot to do with Iraq? No. But it has a great deal to do with the appeasers, and the fact that Baker works for Saudi Arabia. We might as well have mobsters running the government.

Crawling this thread late, as I have had to work at my actual job all day, has been pretty depressing. But they are not going to get me down. That said, Lord knows, we need help.

Iraq Study Group

We need to thank our creator that this group of 'realist' were not around making recommendations during the American Revolution...

Imagine their reactions and study conclusions after Valley Forge, etc. Every major American city fell to the British during that war!

I have a few open questions:

1) How much of a policy is it for the US not to talk to our enemies, when in the past we talked with N Korea during the Korean war, N. Vietnam during the Vietnam war, and USSR during the cold war? Is there not precedent for talking with the opposition?

2) Tony Blair, our staunchest ally, has said we are not winning the war. Our new defense secy says we're not winning the war. Neither do these former Defense secy's and Secretaries of State. Is there a point where we say: It's not worth it, or do we continue fighting even if it is interminable?

3) If we let a civil war rage on in Iraq by leaving, whats the worst thing that could happen to the US as a result?
--

I don't ask these questions to anger. I myself am trying to reason whats the best, most pragmatic way to proceed. And I wouldn't ask these questions of liberals because I already know what their answers would be, and I don't think they've added much to the debate intellectually. However, is there any valid middle path between "Cut & Run" and "Victory at any cost"?
