For every "F" he gets, he gets an additional week of jail time.

LOL! Nice and subtle. The dunce would probably fail sixth grade enough times to spend life in prison.

I agree, jail is too tough.

I'd be glad to put him out of his misery via death by hanging, lethal injection, the chair, etc.

Good grief, he beat a homeless guy to death. That basically tells me he just thought it would be fun to beat a guy to death. This slimeball needs to rot of fry. Certainly not get off.

In prison Messner is now known as the "little fat f@#%"

I've heard one of the sayings in prison at San Quentin is, "There's no joy, like a fat butted boy!"

but damn if I know what they're talking about.

Well, I do not know the "lad" - so all my presumptions are out of hand, as it were. I think he could be redeemed somehow, and prove himself useful in his life on earth. My example for this hope is the well-known David Berkowitz, AKA the "Son of Sam" killer of NY state infamy. Seldom in modern times has there been a more lost and evil soul walking amongst us - yet somehow, Berkowitz has found Christ behind bars. I believe his commitment is sincere in his heart of hearts. I have viewed lengthy videotapes, and he is clearly remorseful, devoid of making any excuses, fully cognizant of the cruel and calculating depravity which he acted upon. He knows he will never get out of prison, he flatly acknowledges the justice of his sentence without dispute, and he is obviously humbly grateful to G_d for a chance to have his miserable soul saved, and for a chance to be of some use in this life. His personal testimony is unflinchingly honest, and utterly compelling. In fact, I challenge a person with any heart to them to listen with an open mind and not weep openly. He is now filling his mind with scriptures. He leads Bible studies in prison and is dedicated to introducing trapped, miserable sinners to Jesus Christ - for Christ's glory, not his own. His "memory bank" of Bible verses seems to border on encyclopaedic, and my own impression is that the Word is engraved upon his heart. He is where he belongs, and he accepts and embraces that. If Berkowitz was/is salvageable, then Mr. Messner can be as well - IF he chooses wisely. A.A.C.

....OK...let's let him out...and make him a guest at your house....ya'll do some big time praying together...let him intermingle with your children...especially the female members of your family....then come back an tell me how "redeemed" he is..oh by the way review a few more video tapes of this "good ole boy". Frankly post like yours are void of real thought...

One of the teenagers responsible for beating a Holly Hill homeless man to death asked a judge to reduce his 22-year prison sentence Monday. Warren Messner and three other teens pled guilty to killing the man because they were bored, but Messner said prison is too hard.

Perhaps he would prefer to ride at the end of a rope? Tell him to get back in his cage.

I find it interesting that the majority of Freepers are expressing outrage in this situation but such was not the case, here recently, when the theft of homeless peoples' belongings was being discussed:

Why incarcerate these animals if not to attempt rehab?

They are undoubtedly trying. I don't know if they have that much to work with in this case. These kids remind me of that bunch in NJ that gang raped, beat and finally drowned one of their friends. Their victim was only 12 but the gang of boys and girls that murdered her was not much older. With this kind of behavior at such a young age I don't know that rehab is really possible.

Why not just do all of us and his next victim a favor and take out the trash now?

Because the SCOTUS says we can't.

Sociopaths like that are wired wrong. They are more like rabid animals than human beings. There is really nothing there to reform. There is no "there" there.

Man, that must have been painful. Underneath all the polish, I guess we're still the stone-age souls that need young men to undergo "rites of passage." And in the long run, it's probably a solid instinct.

My instinct is to dust the perpetrators immediately.

Let's see if he gets more mercy than he gave.

I guess that's one way of looking at it. Prison must be hell on earth.

The judge and the state both argued that being deprived services and being locked away is precisely the point of prison. Warren Messner will spend the next 22 years in prison without the chance for parole.

Wow! Some common sense from the bench.

[Son of Sam] knows he will never get out of prison, he flatly acknowledges the justice of his sentence without dispute ... he is where he belongs, and he accepts and embraces that.

Yes indeed. God works in funny ways. People don't remember that vengeance ... is His!

I should amend that to, "vengeance ... is His" -- for a reason!

There is no sinner that God cannot love or forgive. As far as I can tell this person has not looked for redemption.

I can't find the verse but I recall Jesus saying that everyone might understand a hungry man stealing bread, but he must still pay back seven times the value.

Yeah, he should be out on the streets so he can murder some more people. He should be thankful he is getting out in 22 years because he deserves to be locked up for the rest of his life. If the victim wasn't homeless his sentence would be worse. He probably won't be worried about boredom when they ship him to the adult jail.
