Wife and two daughters of senior editor James Kim found in Oregon; search is still on for James Kim, who left the car on foot two days ago.

The wife and daughters of missing CNET senior editor James Kim have been found alive and airlifted to a local hospital, authorities announced at a press conference in Merlin, Ore., Monday afternoon.

James Kim left the car on snowshoes two days ago to seek help and has not been found, the official said. The search for him continues.

According to the official speaking at the news conference, the conditions of Kati, Penelope and Sabine are not yet known. More details are expected at a press conference at 5 p.m. PST, which CNET will stream live.

Kati Kim reportedly flagged down a helicopter rented by families of the missing persons.

After searches in Oregon's Curry and Douglas counties, new information on missing CNET senior editor James Kim and his family narrowed the search back to the Bear Camp area in Josephine County, according to reports Monday.

A cell phone tower received a signal from one of the family's cell phones at about 1:30 a.m. on Sunday near Glendale, but officials say the signal is only an indicator the family could have been within 26 miles of Glendale at that time, according to a report in The Oregonian.

Actually, whistles are among the must-have items for a survival kit. They're just as loud, and don't run out of air until you do.

Yes, I knew about whistles, however these new 'remarkable' canned air horns seem much louder to me......(at least the one's I heard at our football games....;o)

Still wondering if the search 'copters are equipped with any type 'blaster horns'....that *might* be heard more easily than just the drone of the 'copter.

Oh no.....Fox now reporting a body has been found....

Spotted by a reporter from a helicopter? And they're going with that as him being dead?

Fox News: Private helicopter hired by a news service has spotted a body. No confirmation that it is Kim yet, but a news conference was just hastily cancelled. Waiting on update confirmation.

Yeah, irresponsible of Fox (gee, such a shock) to jump to the conclusion to try and be the first to throw out the Breaking alert.

OTOH, who else would it be? That it some very, very desolate country.

Hoping, too. Doesn't look good.... Why would he have left the road in the first place?

Nobody else is reporting this right now; maybe Fox jumped the gun.

I was so hopeful when I heard all the things they found that he was leaving a trail.

"has spotted a body" - not necessarily dead. Maybe just down. They need time to get to him. Prayers going up.

Unfortunately there were earlier reports that a search at the river campsites showed no sign that he had made it there, that they had narrowed the search to a 3-mile section of the tributary gorge, and that the heat sensors had not picked up any thermal hits in the area last night.

Why would he have left the road in the first place?

It probably was going up over a ridge and he saw downhill as an easier path. Going downhill makes sense unless conditions are severe and you are unsure whether you are trapping yourself in doing such. In this case, that probably happened.
