The man who allegedly admitted to murdering nearly two dozen men told authorities he did so to keep them quiet after raping them.
Ronald Joseph Dominique, 42, of Bayou Blue, is formally charged with killing 11 men over a period spanning nearly a decade. Police say hes admitted to killing 23, and there may be others whose deaths havent been discovered yet.
He targeted men with a transient life-style, those who walked or relied on a bicycle for transportation and may have had drug or alcohol problems.
Some of those men were gay, others performed sex acts with men or women for money, authorities have said.
Dominique told police he lured the men by promising them money in exchange for sex. Sometimes the men agreed to have sex with him, other times they agreed to have sex with Dominiques wife after he showed them a photograph of an attractive woman. Police say Dominique had no wife and made that story up.
After taking the would-be victim back to his place, Dominique allegedly asked permission to tie him up. If he said no, Dominique released him. If he agreed, police say Dominique raped him and then killed him.
Dominique was arrested by Thibodaux Police in 1996 for the aggravated rape of a man. He spent three months in jail and was ultimately released when authorities couldnt find the victim to testify.
Terrebonne Parish Jerry Larpenter said Dominique told investigators that he killed his victims because he didnt want to return to jail.
Dominique was arrested Friday at an east-Houma homeless shelter. He was initially charged with the murders of two Jefferson Parish men, and additionally charged with the rape of one.
Today he was formally charged with nine additional counts of murder, all in Terrebonne.
Prosecutors say they will seek the death penalty.
Earlier this year, The Courier compiled a list of 23 men whose bodies were found dumped in remote areas, mostly ditches and sugar-cane fields. The most recent murder occurred two months ago. The earliest attributed to Dominique was in 1997. Police said today that Dominique confessed to all those murders. Sources close to the investigation have said he may have killed more men whose bodies were never discovered.
Only makes sense he'd kill them so he didn't have to go back to jail ;) Guess that means he won't appeal the death penalty, save himself all that time in jail ?
That seems like a distinction w/o a difference.
"Ronald Joseph Dominique" is an anagram for "Hi! Join! Porno deed qualms."
Hmmm...
It is a sick world.
Sick creep.
I believe, and have advanced the theory for some time now, that serial killers, such as these, are not real and actual human beings, but deadly impersonators. Just as in nature, one species imitates another (the monarch moth and the monarch butterfuly), these predators imitate human beings. Some day, in the not too distant future, DNA analysis will isolate the difference between human beings and their deadly imitators.
Give him a medal for public service, then, hang him!
Wow. I'm going to miss these good citizens!
That seems like a distinction w/o a difference.
Only if you omit part of the quote.
Some of those men were gay, others performed sex acts with men or women for money,
Thing is, the killer AND his victims all shared "San Fransicko values".
What public service?
I guess some people here -- special people who have greater moral clairty than the rest of us profane sinners -- think it is okay to murder homosexuals and/or prostitutes.
Hm... after so many posts of the "Illegal Immigrant Runs Amok, Slaughters Twenty" variety, shouldn't the title mention that he's native born?
This is clearly a social problem. We have placed a stigma on rapists, particularly gay rapists. If we had only recognized homosexual rape as a valid lifestyle choice, this poor man would not have been compelled to kill the guys he raped. Thus, he is really innocent . . . while all of us are truly guilty.
I saw the whole quote and would still say that someone who performs sex with a member of the same sex, for money or free, would qualify.
I think it must be something in the diet.
