As Hillary Clinton begins her own preparations to run for the presidency, the deciding factor of who will be the next commander in chief may have less to do with whomever is chosen as the Democrat or Republican nominee, and more to do with the choice of the Constitution Party.
This weekend at a national committee meeting in Manchester, N.H., Howard Phillips and the Constitution Party he founded set in motion the plans to launch its own third party candidate for president.
"The time has never been better for a third party dark horse candidate to grab the White House," Phillips told WND.
He affirmed that by next July, his party intends to nominate a presidential candidate, with possibilities for the ticket including Minuteman Project co-founder Jim Gilchrist, former Republican presidential candidate Alan Keyes, Baptist pastor Chuck Baldwin, and author and WND columnist Jerome Corsi.
The Constitution Party is also strongly supportive of Republican Congressmen Tom Tancredo and Ron Paul, but there is no decision yet that either would leave their home in the Republican Party to pursue a Constitution Party nomination. Tancredo has said numerous times he is considering a run for the presidency.
"The American public are angry at both the Democratic and Republican Party," Phillips said. "If neither major party wants to listen to the American middle class, the Constitution Party is ready to enter center stage and get back to the basics that have made the republic established by our founding fathers work for over 230 years."
The meeting was highlighted by a lineup of well-known conservative speakers, including those who may end up running.

Will Rino Rudy, if the reps put up a pro gay, pro abortion, and anti gun candidate they will lose big time. A large number of people will either stay home of go third party, count on it.
Another thing we have to always plan for is the large number of votes that will be stolen from our side, only way to assure a win is a large win, close is just too close these days.
Well, to me it looks like you learned the lesson.:) Too bad it had to come at the expense of us putting up with him.
I just can't help but laugh when I think of the possibilities if 2000 were a reverse '92 (Bush winning with 43% of the vote with a strong Nader candidacy). DUmmies would be even more batshit crazy than they already were after 2000.
You're probably right, and that is a supreme example of cutting off your nose to spite your face.
The same can be said for trying the ram an unelectable rino down our throats.
Those were different times. People were genuinly angry about Bush 41 breaking the no new taxes pledge and we were not at war at the time, Perot really struck a nerve with the public. I don't ever remember any time that I voted when so many people came out to vote as that year. One thing it showed any candidate is the American people are pretty patient, except when someone lies to us.
I think you are wishful thinking about more blacks turning GOP.There may be a very slight trend in that direction but betcha that Hillary will get close to 90% of the black vote.Especially black WOMEN.They are head over heels about her.Don't ask me why.
Richardson is more low key than Obama but I'm sure he will be coached well by Hillary's handlers.
Hiilary can also use Richardson to woo the anti-illegal vote since he was one of the governors urging troops be sent to the border earlier this year.
Pretty disingenous when you think about it since the Democrats stand to benefit from any proposed amnesty granted these illegals in the future.
If I guess right then the candidate I vote for will win; and if he/she gets enough votes he will be the standard bearer of my party. I will support him/her in November whether it was my first choice or not... because the alternative is too horrible to imagine.
The only way anyone is "rammed down your throat" is if you don't vote in the primary and/or the general and didn't participate in the process.
I think they are head over heels over his husband, not Queen Hillary... but in most dems minds it's one and the same, they are thrilled at the thought of the Clinton's back in the WH -- bet the Chinese and NoKorean's and Iranians are, too.
You got it... now you're thinking like a Clinton.
bingo
A lot of people are pushing RIno Rudy hard. But unless I mis my guess he if nominated will lose in the general election.
I do think that a lot of this talk is him and his supporters trying to scare others from running.
Actually, you may well be wrong, he might carry a lot of people who are on the fence about Hillary. Then again he might not. Right now we have to sit back, listen and watch all the potential candidates and assess each one against Hillary and a Richardson or Obama running mate in the end making a determination who would turn out the moderate voters in the center of both parties.
If that's the case, than what's the big deal?
I remember this. It's deja vu all over again. This is the part where the purists take their ball and vote for a candidate totally unacceptable to a real conservative ideology and ends up putting a Clinton in the White House.
Well make up your mind, which is it. Are they .5% wannabes or are they going to pave the way for Hillary?
We can probably all agree that we prefer a pro-life nominee. Frankly, I don't see how anyone with a soul (there I go with qualifiers again:) can support such a monstrous practice, but even with Giuliani in there, he's a bit more likely to put pro-life people in positions of power than Hillary!, isn't he?
"Considering its size and demographics, the Constitutionists are in more of a position to thwart the Republicans than Democrats.."
Ditto, ditto,
"..though their impact on both could be small."
The GOP should not count on that and local GOPers with Constitution Party friends should work to bring the Constitutionalists back to the fold, enlisting their working-support in GOP primaries in the 2008 Congressional races, helping to give them a stake in GOP outcomes.

I'm an optimist. I think it's only a matter of time until abortion is outlawed. It's a fact that people opposed to abortion generally don't have abortions. To me, it's all math after that.
Sure you can. Just get drunk before or after. Your choice.:)
