Washington has no shortage of bullies, but even we can't quite believe an October 27 letter that Senators Jay Rockefeller and Olympia Snowe sent to ExxonMobil CEO Rex Tillerson. Its message: Start toeing the Senators' line on climate change, or else.
We reprint the full text of the letter here, so readers can see for themselves. But its essential point is that the two Senators believe global warming is a fact, and therefore all debate about the issue must stop and ExxonMobil should "end its dangerous support of the [global warming] 'deniers.' " Not only that, the company "should repudiate its climate change denial campaign and make public its funding history." And in extra penance for being "one of the world's largest carbon emitters," Exxon should spend that money on "global remediation efforts."
The Senators aren't dumb enough to risk an ethics inquiry by threatening specific consequences if Mr. Tillerson declines this offer he can't refuse. But in case the CEO doesn't understand his company's jeopardy, they add that "ExxonMobil and its partners in denial have manufactured controversy, sown doubt, and impeded progress with strategies all-too reminiscent of those used by the tobacco industry for so many years." (Our emphasis.) The Senators also graciously copied the Exxon board on their missive.
This is amazing stuff. On the one hand, the Senators say that everyone agrees on the facts and consequences of climate change. But at the same time they are so afraid of debate that they want Exxon to stop financing a doughty band of dissenters who can barely get their name in the paper. We respect the folks at the Competitive Enterprise Institute, but we didn't know until reading the Rockefeller-Snowe letter that they ran U.S. climate policy and led the mainstream media around by the nose....

yes, this letter bodes ill for dialog and debate. Extortion has been mainstreamed by J Jackson to this degree. Rockefeller and Snow individually and collectively know nothing about environmental forces and consequence. Their handlers know how to play with these well intended puppets. The handlers are after big bucks. Big Bucks... Money... After the money... They won't stop till they like Spitzer squeeze lifes last nickel... There is no stopping these idiots.

Real scientists would discover and announce that man's energy emissions contribute an infinitesimal amount to the atmosphere - maybe .3 percent, but are by no means a significant factor in the normal cycling of warm-cool-warm-cool.
Where are the real scientists? Have all of them been bought off, like judges and politicians?

If ever you find yourself in a debate about global warming, be prepared. Here is a show stopper for most (that is if you are debating anyone with an incling of scientific intelligence, otherwise, don't waste your time).
Ask a Human Caused Global Warming activist if they know what the number 1 greenhouse gas on the planet is. After they tell you Carbon Dioxide, ask them if this is why "greenhouses" stay so warm. Next point out to them that plastic is not a very good insulator and ask them what the climate is in a greenhouse. Have them describe it. If they leave out that it is always very humid, help them.
Folks, the number 1 greenhouse gas in our atmosphere is water vapor. In fact, water vapor makes up 98% of our atmosphere and is, by far and away, the source of the earths insulation. See the link above to find out how much of the earth's "greenhouse gasses" are comprised of Carboon Dioxide when measured along with water vapor.
It is less than 1/2 of 1%. Of that 1/2 of 1%, only part of it is "manmade." Most of that 1/2 of 1% comes from natural causes, like the ocean.
BTW - Carbon Dioxide makes the oceans flourish as plankton thrives on it. The more CO2 in the ocean, the more life....so goes the circle of life.

Funny isn't it. People do not seem to worried that Muslims are plotting to kill them and take over their country, but by golly we may all be dead if we do not stop global warming. Or is it Climate Change lately?

I don't know what planet you are from, but I like my atmosphere with at least a 3psi partial pressure of O2

Rockefeller's great-grandfather started Standard Oil. Standard Oil = Esso (SO) = Exxon = Exxon-Mobil.
The dirty blood money leads to the Senator's own door. What is Senator Rockefeller doing holding onto the blood money from a company he accuses of destroying the planet? What is Senator trust-fund doing with his own Exxon dollars to spread the word? Why does he keep the filthy lucre?
