Theresa Marie Schindler was born to Robert and Mary Schindler on December 3, 1963. She was the first of three children the Schindlers would have.
Terri was a shy, but comical, child who had an affinity for music, animals and the arts. She kept a small circle of friends and was dear to schoolmates, neighboring families and her own extended family.
Following high school, Terri came into her own. She developed a knack for sketching and doodling. She enjoyed outings with her friends. She was an adoptive mother to the familys dog, Bucky.
Terri attended Catholic School while growing up and remained close to her faith throughout her life.
In 1983, Terri met Michael Schiavo at Bucks County Community College and the two began dating. He was the first romantic interest Terri had.
The couple was engaged within a few months and married a year later at Terris church in Southampton, Pa. She was 21.
In 1986, Terri and Michael relocated to Pinellas County, Florida and her parents followed three months later.
In 1990, at the age of 26, Terri suffered a mysterious cardio-respiratory arrest for which no cause has ever been determined. She was diagnosed with hypoxic encephalopathy neurological injury caused by lack of oxygen to the brain. Terri was placed on a ventilator, but was soon able to breathe on her own and maintain vital function. She remained in a severely compromised neurological state and was provided a PEG tube to ensure the safe delivery of nourishment and hydration.
On March 31, 2005, Terri Schindler Schiavo died of marked dehydration following more than 13 days without nutrition or hydration under the order of Circuit Court Judge, George W. Greer of the Pinellas-Pascos Sixth Judicial Court. Terri was 41.
"There. That'll teach you to spend eighty bucks getting your hair done!"
I don't follow. Please elaborate.
I was referring back to your post 373. He tried to kill her 2 years before Bushnell got involved.
Late 1992: Tearfully tells malpractice awards jury that he will spend the rest of his life taking care of Terri.
Early 1993. Collects the fraudulent malpractice award.
1993, a few months later. Tries to kill Terri by denying her antibiotics to treat her urinary tract infection. This is all on the record and he admitted it in sworn testimony. Did anybody notice that he would have become an instant millionaire if he had succeeded? He was the sole heir to her estate.
Getting money without working was always top priority for Michael. Honoring his vows was not.
Austan Goolsbee writes for the NYT and figures out who is who in the bias battle. Here amongst other deep analyses, they associate words with political affiliations and terms like Terri Schiavo as catch phrase of the Republicans. Oh really??? We visited the media sources daily prior to the election and found vast leftist quantities of references to disparage Terri's Legacy. These far lefties who would have us MoveOn are themselves unable to shake the effect of her legacy and repeat her name over and over,(maybe in their efforts to purge it from their consciences or whatever replaced consciences). We see the same patterns on our threads as interlopers cry that we should MoveOn, yet cannot break themselves away from fretting.
Hear it from the New York Times...

Dr. Gentzkow and Dr. Shapiro started in the world of the political. They parsed the words of politicians all the words from the 2005 Congressional Record. They found the 1,000 most partisan phrases uttered in the year. They measured this by comparing how frequently a phrase was used by one side or the other.
In 2005, phrases like death tax, illegal aliens, Terri Schiavo, and nuclear power came mostly from Republicans. Phrases like minimum wage, public broadcasting, middle class and oil companies came mostly from Democrats. Using those phrases, the two economists made a simple index of partisanship that comported nicely with standard measures like a politicians score on the Americans for Democratic Action ideological scale.

I wonder if their self-termed moniker, "Democratic" is part of their toy box of words. That way it sounds as if Republican is opposite of democratic good things. We are not all Republicans, but what else can the poor lefties use to catagorize us?
This comes from Slate:
Not in all cases, of course. Consider "stem cell," "cell lines," "cell research," "embryonic stem cell," "adult stem cells," "cord blood stem," "stem cell lines," and "pluripotent stem cells," all of which are captured examples of Republicanspeak. The finding that Republicans use these phrases much more often than Democrats shouldn't automatically mean a news reporter who uses any of them is expressing a conscious or unconscious bias, a view I assume Gentzkow and Shapiro would agree with. On the other hand, phrases such as "war on terror" and "Terri Schiavo" telegraph to my ears the warblings of a pure-blooded Republican, so I suspect the scholars are onto something.
Prior to reading this paper I would have associated "reform" with Democraticspeak, but Republicans have so completely co-opted the word that it doesn't appear on the Dems' list in any form. Republicans must talk incessantly about "immigration reform," "health liability reform," "UN reform," "class action reform," and "social security reform."

Struggle, as in "Mein Kampf?
They love the word "leader," too, as "the glorious leader," or "leader for life," or "titanic double-plus-good leader Kim Jong-il ["At this time Kim assumed the title "Dear Leader" (친애하는 지도자, ch'inaehanŭn chidoja)[2], the government began building a personality cult around him patterned after that of his father, the "Great Leader". Kim Jong-il was regularly hailed by the media as the "peerless leader"... -- Wikipedia].
Naturally, the German term for the leader is "Der Fuehrer."
I wonder if our intrepid social scientists would dare to compare the language used by 1) Communists, 2) Nazis, and 3) liberals?
Hmm. A comparison between our language and trollbabble would be interesting too :-)
All right, I fibbed a little.
It wasn't Kim Jong-il, it was Mohammed transported to heaven. And if my scratch pad does not fib, the angel he there beheld had 14,010,000,000,000,000,000 tongues, each praising Allah in 70,000 languages.
No fooling. Mohammed really did say that.
My head hurts even thinking about the din from 980,700,000,000,000,000,000,000 languages all going at once. That's worse than the UN, even.
Of course not. It simply wants to help. Remember its advertising slogan, "I got my job through the New York Times"? It was true! Fidel Castro got his job through the New York Times. Nearly half a century later he still has it, also courtesy of the New York Times.
Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, our best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low-stress, non-addictive, gender-neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasion and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all. We also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2007, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make America great. Clear, convincing and legally binding final health directive of Theresa Marie Schiavo interpreted from the recollections of her sister-in-law by lawyers George Felos, Deborah Bushnell and George Greer:
"Michael, when are you going to get a job? I hate having to live at home with my mom and dad. If you earned some money, we could get an apartment of our own."
A little to the left of Kim Jong-il. The media would adore him.
America used to zealously protect the right to life, but that was before the liberals took over. Now we have an even more zealous "right-to-die" movement. What they mean by that is the right to kill without legal consequences. It's like a free murder movement. They murder the unborn, they murder the aged, they murder the crippled.
Careful, FV. Some guys like fisticuffs, others like fisting.
Speaking of Kim Jong Il, here people are pushing to have documents of protection like a Living Will, while in the dark reaches of North Korea, all they have is the Il Will.
Remembering those who died at Pearl Harbor...

I read a lot of articles, about people being removed from life support
shortly after being injured. I'm seeing some patterns. The obvious pattern
is that the patient almost always has brain damage. I'm beginning to notice
another pattern. When their families talk about what kind of person the
victim was, they place enormous value on those characteristics that are lost
or diminished by brain damage. The victim was usually smart, athletic,
vivacious, pretty, etc. The families rarely praise the victims for their
kindness, lovingness, gentleness, etc. That's not to say the victims didn't
have those qualities. It just reveals the values of the families who choose
to remove the victims from life support.
Aleena Jimenez, age 5, was removed from life support almost a day and half
after she was injured in a house fire. The same day as the fire, she was
reported (through the grape vine) to have had no brain activity. No word on
how that was determined.
Given the age and disabilities of Aleena's great grandmother, I wonder if
she died of natural causes, or if her life support was withheld or
prematurely removed.
Aleena was removed from life support Saturday afternoon, but didn't die
until Sunday. How did her corpse continue breathing, without any brain
activity? If she hadn't died the day after life support was removed, would
she have died a couple weeks later from starvation and dehydration?
I read another article that I can't find now. In it, one of Aleena's
relatives described her as smart and vivacious. I think she also mentioned
pretty. I guess there was no point in keeping her alive, if she could no
longer be smart, vivacious and pretty. What the hell is wrong with people?
........................
Aleena Jimenez, his 5-year-old granddaughter, Helen Madla and Cruz, 81, were
pulled from the house without a pulse. Firefighters performed CPR on the
front lawn and revived them, said District Fire Chief Randy Jenkins.
Aleena and Helen Madla were in stable condition at University Hospital on
Friday, but Cruz, who was paralyzed and used a wheelchair, later died at
Brooke Army Medical Center.
Frank Madla died in an upstairs bedroom after suffering burns and smoke
inhalation.
Harold Oliver, a former top aide to the legislator, reported Friday evening
that Aleena had no brain activity. He said Helen Madla had responded to him
by squeezing his hand, but she still had a lot of smoke in her lungs.
