Washington has a way of quickly acculturating people, especially those who are most susceptible to derangement by the derivative dignity of office. But Jim Webb, Democratic U.S. senator-elect from Virginia, has become a pompous poseur and an abuser of the English language before actually becoming a senator.
Sounds more like he is calling you a flip flopper more than a liar, IMHO. From what I have read, I have to agree.
I'm through with it.
Look for me. I'll be standing on the sidewalk where you used to stand with us.
George F. Will, as usual, has interesting insights.
According to the Wikipedia (yeah, I know their reputation on veracity, but it's hard to imagine them lying about this one) article on "Secretaries of the Navy", his term of office was May 1, 1987 - February 23, 1988.
So was Benedict Arnold.
Neighboring Maryland also voted out a good man, Governor Robert Erlich, even though it was widely acknowledged in the state that he was doing a fine job. His only "sin" was being a Republican in a heavily Dimocratic state.
Well, if you thought that was good..........keep reading.
the trouble is, they weren't thinking. They were responding--to Allen's faux pas' and to the media's reporting about pubbies and Allen. People are really stupid. They rarely try to find out the truth in a matter and only believe, believe, believe what they read or see on television. Sheeple!
He writes dirty books and thinks he's got some kind of gift.
IMHO, the Left signifies satan and his minions. They can't stand righteousness and good moral values so they fight against us every step of the way. It's a real spiritual warfare going on now in America, for the soul of America.
I think you're right, and it will be on the democrat's watch this time. We'll see how they handle that one.
Don't blame ALL Virginia voters for this a$$hat! Only a VERY small majority actually voted for him. I'm sure the rest of them feel even worse than we 37% of Republicans who get stuck with John Effin Kerry and Teddy the Swimmer every time they come up for re-election.
At least the Virginia voters who opposed Webb came within spitting distance of not having to be stuck with him for the next 6 years.
AMEN!!!!
I think so, I'm totally flummoxed by VA, can't get over it. It is clear that Webb is a very angry man.
Yes, I do think that is correct. I used to follow the man fairly closely and would write him commenting on his books that I had read. He would respond. Then I realized that he wasn't the man I thought him to be, there was a disconnect with today's men (and women) serving, couldn't quite figure it out and then he "came out" basking in the glory of the Bush-haters. I knew then what we had.
There were things in his books that were really off the wall. They didn't seem to serve much purpose in the context of the story other than "shock value"--disturbing. I've served in the Far East also, did a lot of snooping and observing. Some of that stuff he comes up with was very strange, warped, time will tell with this guy.
That's very true. If it wasn't for the northeast, I think the Dems wouldn't have a prayer.
Great article, Will got it right.
So much for the charges of so-called 'true conservatives' who criticize RINO's for not supporting conservatives, while they supposedly vote for moderates.
You are out of your gord.
