Where's the federal guvment with free cash to the victims? If I **feel** like I'm a victim can I apply for the cash as well? It's the government - why would they care who gets the cash? As long as I vote at least once per election I'm due for a pay-off, right?

Are you serious - 72 degrees!!?
I live in NW Illinois and I just got back inside from shoveling around 8" of wet, heavy snow from my walkway and garage. It's about 28 degrees right now, looking for a low of 10 tonight.
Brrrrr.

Well, I'd like either extreme. Snow and cold or nice. Just get rid of the 40's and 50's.

About 1992 it snowed 10' over the winter because of the volcano. Everybody bought stick blades for their pickup trucks and snow-blowers to clean off flat roofs. Everybody has been waiting for it to snow again. Waiting. Waiting.

I was wise enough to make sure the snowblower worked yesterday.
The theory being that if I did that there was no way we would get enough snow today to have to use it.
Looks like it worked! ;-)

It's a grammar problem, I think. Evertime I see "closure" used where "closing" is meant, I get the same feeling that I get when Hillary screeches something.

Looking out of my window right now I see a completely drifted over northern Illinois county road that eventually leads to my place of employment, but this morning would only have left me stuck a few hundred yards from home had I been unwise enough to try to drive on it.
I just kicked my daughter off the computer where she was looking up snowboards online and saying, "They're only about $500, dad."

It must have been one overloaded party boat that went down. I guess the beer all sank?

Well, maybe I'm weird because I really enjoy winter and the snow. After 5 months it gets old but it is so fun for awhile.
Last night the kids and I went sledding down our hill on our runner sleds....nothing quite like flying down the hill and trying to turn before I end up going through the fence. Looking over the lights of our little town, looking up at the stars in the sky, seeing the pine trees weighed down with snow...it was like a postcard. Then, looking up at my little house all sparkling with white Christmas lights...the pine trees that shade us in the summer are heavy with snow. Knowing that it is warm and cozy inside the house. ah....
As I said, I love winter, a good snowstorm and an occasional blizzard.
But, of course, I am a Norwegian born in Minnesota and now living in Montana...must be in my blood.

We live in Southwest MO and Wednesday night the ice and sleet came barreling in and our electric power was off 2-1/2 hours. You don't know how much you depend on electricity until you haven't got it. Also, everyone should have flashlights on hand for such emergencies.

I love these annual reminders of why I live in the South West. We've been complaining all week of temps in the 50s and 60s.
