PROVO - A Brigham Young University student has been arrested in the investigation of the sexual assault of a woman in Springville. Police say a 21-year-old man apparently invited the 20-year-old woman to his home, then pulled her into his bedroom where he assaulted her. Officers say the two knew each other through mutual friends. Police reports say the man is a junior at BYU on a student visa from Nigeria. The man was booked into the Utah County Jail on suspicion of forcible sex abuse. He's scheduled to appear in court on Dec 6.
Back in the good old days, when I took some "social science" classes, before things got too PC, we had a section of cultural differences in social interactions. The required reading included case studies of booboo by foreigners in the US. Here is one story.
One Arab male student befriended a white American girl. He stopped by her home in the middle of the night. She let him in, wearing her nightgown. Anyways, the Arab male forced himself on the white girl, thinking she wanted to do the nasty. As the girl resisted, Muhadmed got more excited. Luckily for the girl, the housemates were awaken by the commotion and stopped Muhamed. Police was called and Muhamed was taken downtown and booked for attempted rape.
We talk non-stop about diversity and understanding about different cultures. How come this stuff isn't taught anymore, like when you wear a skirt in Denmark, Muslims gang rape you?
Americans don't know how depraved the rest of the world can be. Those who should help us understand the world -- schools and the media -- actually cultivate this ignorance.
You could send liberals into emotional pseudointellectual overload by suggesting that western girls actually want to be raped by men who don't know better due to growing up in a different culture.
Could also be construed as the promiscuous mindset of the Western female.
"She let him in, wearing her nightgown."
Yeah, in his culture, no self-respecting female would let a man into her home in the middle of the night wearing only a nightgown unless she was a whore.
Uh, it's not the rest of the world that's depraved...
It's us.
One of Life's Laws: Don't turn your back to a Nigerian.
I have two comments to that statement:
1) "Not that there's anything wrong with that"
2) This is obviously a scam
The U.S. is an island of freedom, sanity, and prosperity compared to most of the rest of the world. We're not the ones who are screwed up.
This guy picked the wrong school for his study-abroad adventures. At many of our nation's universities, this would be an unremarkable event, with plenty of women volunteering for the experience, or just not bothering to report it because it was "no big deal", or being too drunk to remember what happened or with whom.
Maybe "back in the good old days" somebody should have been teaching this young lady that it's not a great idea to let unexpected, uninvited male visitors into your home in the middle of the night while you're clad in a nightgown. An Arab wouldn't have been the only sort of male student apt to interpret that as a "Yes".
1.5 million abortions annually, 40% illegitimacy rate, 50% divorce rate, rampant pornography/adultery/fornication/pedophelia/homosexuality and feminism...
No, we aren't screwed up at all, are we. Uh-huh.
Eh, what do you expect from a poster so feminized that he took his wife's name.
The world is a crazy, crazy, backwards place aside from America (and Israel), parts of Europe, and the Australian area, and also Japan. These are the countries that are at the cutting edge of the modern world.
Their should be a mandatory assimilation classes for students who comes from a third world hell hole. We do not need thier culture infiltrating our very successful and production culture.
Do we want Arab, or Muslim man to start treat our woman like crap?
Do we want them mutilation woman in the privates?
'Our women'?
Are you suggesting that we 'own' these women?
What was that about about being backwards?
In spite of the sexual revolution and changing roles for women, changes in society, it's still incumbent on the female to be careful.
In spite of everything, it's the girl whose behavior sets the tone and sets the standard. If she goes alone to a man's place, or invites a man alone to her place, it can be seen as sexual invitation.
Of course any sex assault is a serious crime, but some women just don't realize that an innocent act like going somewhere with a man alone can be misinterpreted.
Young people laugh about the days of chaperones on a date, but maybe there was a reason for them.
He can keep his backward and repressive culture, thank you.
I mean most of them still think they live in the 12th century.
Hell, when the last time an innovation, or medicine, or any new scientific knowledge was aquired in a 3rd world culture.
Their sweet people an all, but I'm just saying they need to be brought up to speed on the modern era.
Oh please. This has nothing to do with him being Arab or Nigerian, or whatever. Look at any number of similar incidents committed by black, white, Christian, Muslim, Jewish, etc., etc.
Arabs/Nigerians don't have the market cornered on predatory practices.
So, are you advocating moral licentiousness as the source of scientific progress?
If you are, then you don't know the difference between 'cause and effect' and a 'correlation'.
A 'correlation' between two observations does not necessarily mean that a dependent relationship exists.
That 'backward and repressive culture' will outlive the one you love so much.
Every time a culture entered a period of moral decline like we have, it has not survived as a world power.
We won't either.
