THAT WAS certainly swift. Washington has a way of quickly acculturating people, especially those who are most susceptible to derangement by the derivative dignity of office. But Jim Webb, Democratic senator-elect from Virginia, has become a pompous poseur and an abuser of the English language before actually becoming a senator.
Wednesday's Washington Post reported that at a White House reception for newly elected members of Congress, Webb "tried to avoid President Bush," refusing to pass through the reception line or have his picture taken with the President. When Bush asked Webb, whose son is a Marine in Iraq, "How's your boy?" Webb replied, "I'd like to get them (sic) out of Iraq." When the President again asked, "How's your boy?" Webb replied, "That's between me and my boy." Webb told the Post

I think that there is a mechanism in both the House and the Senate to expel members for various reasons...both specific and vague.
But I suggest to you that as long as Mr Ethics himself,Harry Reid,is Majority Leader Webb needn't worry about expulsion.

There are a thousand reasons why Allen lost, but the main one was a relentless campaign by the WaPo and others. Everything else follows from that.

On top of all that, the VA GOP has run several stink-up-the-joint campaigns the last few election cycles.

Sounds like the Secret Service should nix any more proximity to the president. And if Webb is invited to any good parties, I'll be surprised. He probably needs intense treatment for PTSD. I had a very talented Vietnam Vet employee who could realy flip out into scary rage. It is just smouldering under the surface, here, imho.

One man, one vote....At vast number of the people will not take time to even find out who the Vice President is, or who the Secretary of State, SecDef, etc are....they would rather drink poison than to find out about their senator or congressman...and you get a Webb along with a bunch of crazy 'rats in charge.
If you don't believe it, tune in thursdays for Hannity's "man on the street" segment. It will chill you to the bone knowing that these people may be canceling out your vote.
Too bad for us.

Let's face it, the only way a Rat will be expelled from the Senate is if he's convicted of a felony.
Remember the Bob Packwood affair back in 1995? He was a liberal Republican Senator who resigned before he could be expelled for alleged sexual harassment and assaults, as well as other charges.

"Just damn. How could my state elect this guy?" Just look at the new voters in Northern Virginia, combine them with the bloc vote: Virginia never was extremely conservative. I think the 5-10% conservative advantage is being overwhelmed by demographics.

In jest, I suggested to that a test needs to be taken before a legal citizen can vote. It would consist of two questions:
1. Name the Vice President
2. Name one of your two US Senators.
If the person does not score 100%, they don't get to vote. That would screen out at least half of the voters.

All campaigns are flawed, and it is way too easy to blame the campaign when it is not successful. It's a rare campaign that is well-executed and flawless and even rarer if the media is against you because you just have no control over the tenor of the race.

I'd say Webb's boy probably enlisted to serve his country, much like Duncan Hunter's son did. It's a shame there are so few sons of the political class who are man enough to do this. In my opinion, it's very puzzling why any able bodied young man would not join something, expecially as young women are deploying to combat; I'd think they'd be ashamed not to serve.

I would do Senator Webb a favor and get his boy out of Iraq. How does the next two years in the Antartica guarding the latrine sound? But then I am vindictive.
Paybacks are hell.
