*In the wake of Michael Richards’ racist rant, Rev. Jesse Jackson and a number of black leaders are calling on the entertainment industry – and rappers in particular – to permanently retire its use of the N-word.
"We want to give our ancestors a present," Jackson said at a news conference in Los Angeles Monday. "Dignity over degradation."
The press conference was arranged in response to the Nov. 17 racial rant from former “Seinfeld” star Michael Richards, who used the N-word several times and made other racist remarks to African American men who allegedly heckled him during his stand-up routine at a Los Angeles comedy club.
Jackson said his group, including the NAACP, will meet with TV networks, film companies and musicians to discuss a ban on the racial slur.
Meanwhile, the group is also calling for folks to boycott the recently-released seventh-season DVD of “Seinfeld,” which starred Richards as the character Kramer.
Also attending the press conference was U.S. Rep. Maxine Waters D-Calif., who said the media largely ignores African American issues until such an incident as the Richards situation.
"This is not simply about whether or not the black community forgives or forgets, this is about understanding that this is pervasive, that this happens in all of our institutions, one way or the other," Waters said.
As previously reported, comedian Paul Mooney told reporters at the press conference that he will no longer use the N-word in his standup routines after hearing Richards’ rant.
Also, owners of the comedy club where the rant went down are demanding that Richards pay $1 million to charity for each N-word that came out of his mouth during the tirade.
According to TV news show “The Insider,” Laugh Factory co-owner Jamie Masada has now banned the 'N' word from the venue and is reportedly asking Richards to pay $6 million to charity for the six times he used the racial epithet on stage.

Along with 90% of the black actors in Hollywood -- such stinking racial hypocrisy --- the poverty pimps keep at it.
Maybe they can start off with easier words like Honkey and White Cracker?
