Sources close to outgoing Maj. Leader Bill Frist tell the Hotline that Frist has decided not to run for President.
He will make a formal announcement this afternoon, the sources said.
Frist made the decision in recent days after consulting family, friends and advisers.
Let is not forget he was hand picked by GW, which cause Don Nickle's to resign.(In my opinion)
He's not a Republican senator. He's a private citizen who would run as an outsider, if he would have run. It makes a difference to American voters, as ridiculous as it sounds.
So true. Let's start recruiting then. Names, backgrounds, communication abilities, leadership skills, principles, electability, etc. How about previous governors?
I don't think anyone who has run from that angle has been elected since Benjamin Harrison.

At this time, every thought or point of view is valid! Why not? :)... Because things are changing fast!... Fritz is in the mold of Bush the father imo... I dont' think that Bush would be elected today, do you? Never mind that he was the advise pres... woule he be EVEN considered today?
I doubt it... politics is changing as we speak! :)
I dont' feel about GW the way you do... He has dissapointed a couple of times and still wondering about him, even today.
Like I said, every opinion is fine. I know you probably have very valid reasons to feel like you do... and I have mine :)
This Tennessean agrees with both of you also. Good Luck to Dr. Frist.
You can scratch a few off your list already:
Rick Perry
Arnold Schwarzenegger
A few are very long shots -
Donald Carcieri (Rhode Island)
Michael Rounds (South Dakota)
The best are the south -
Haley Barbour
Sonny Perdue
Mark Sanford

Never before. Not now.
That was my very subtle point. Never has a mayor been elected to the Presidency, without working his way up. John Lindsay tried running, and he was quite similar to Rudy Giuliani. Liberal, liberal, liberal. Got demolished in the primaries.
Lott?
Mitchell?
Byrd?
I'm no fan of Frist, but Frist wasn't worse than the three of them.
He couldn't run the Repub senate and he certainly wouldn't be able to run the country.
Oh, I don't know. I kind of like it. Now if McCain and some others would hold similar press conferences, it might clear the way for some quality candidates to step up.
But yes, they are presumptious fools.
He will make a formal announcement this afternoon, at his regular watering hole, the sources said.
southernnorthcarolina made the decision in recent days after consulting his bartender, his friend, and people he owes money to.
However, I have not ruled out my run at the Presidency.
Frist was republican chairman in 2002, George Allen was chairman in 2004 who helped ouster daschle.
I'm devastated.
Now I'm better.
Frist broke with tradition and actually campaigned against Daschle in his home state.
Sorry, but for this cowboy, this AIN'T breaking news.
So did allen if i recall.
