One Mosque Burned in Hurriya

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
RELEASE No. 20061125-09
Nov. 25, 2006

One Mosque Burned in Hurriya
Multi-National Corps – Iraq PAO

BAGHDAD — Contrary to recent media reporting that four mosques were burned in Hurriya, an Iraqi Army patrol investigating the area found only one mosque had been burned in the neighborhood.

Soldiers from the 6th Iraqi Army Division conducted a patrol in Hurriya Friday afternoon in response to media reports that four mosques were being burned as retaliation for the VBIED attacks in Sadr City on Thursday.

The Soldiers set up a checkpoint near the Al Muhaimen mosque at approximately 2 p.m. and found the mosque intact with no evidence of any fire at the location.

While investigating the Al Meshaheda mosque, the patrol received small arms fire from unknown insurgents. The patrol returned fire, and the insurgents broke contact and fled the area. A subsequent check of the mosque found the mosque intact with no evidence of a fire.

At approximately 3:50 p.m., a local civilian reported to the patrol that armed insurgents had set the Al-Nidaa mosque on fire by throwing a gas container into the mosque. The patrol pursued the insurgents but lost contact with them.

The Soldiers called the fire department and set up a cordon around the mosque. Local fire trucks responded to the scene and extinguished the fire at approximately 4:00 p.m. The mosque sustained smoke and fire damage in the entry way but was not destroyed.

An alleged attack on a fourth mosque remains unconfirmed. The patrol was also unable to confirm media reports that six Sunni civilians were allegedly dragged out of Friday prayers and burned to death. Neither Baghdad police nor Coalition forces have reports of any such incident.

The story may have been fictional, but it wasn't out of the realm of possibility. That's why it was so easily believed. I'm relieved it wasn't true, though; it was just too horrific to contemplate.

Were you one of the 'get out of Iraq now Bush is a moron' emotional reactors to this story, Son?

Nope. I never said any of the words attributed. I DID say that we should not talk to Iranian Hezbullah (or Syria), we should kill Mookie, we should engage the Turks under NATO to administer the government in Baghdad, and allow Jordan full operations in Anbar.

Now show where I made any of the comments attributed to me in your assertion " 'get out of Iraq now Bush is a moron'". I have never accused you of any statements without a link. I do now accuse you of besmirching the character of anyone that disagrees with you, by implying that your accusations are their words.

The story may have been fictional, but it wasn't out of the realm of possibility. That's why it was so easily believed.

Especially when one reads this, propaganda or not.

The Sawt al-Haqq statement said that the US-run puppet "Iraqi Interior Ministry Shock Troops (Maghawir)" were sending bus loads of pro-Iranian Shi'i sectarian gunmen into the al-Jihad neighborhood. Some 500 of the gunmen were massing and mobilizing in the Jaysh al-Mahdi headquarters in al-Jihad for an attack on the neighborhood. The militiamen were armed with light and medium weapons and were apparently assembling in battle order in preparation for a massacre in the neighborhood.

Terrorized residents of al-Jihad had contacted the puppet police and puppet authorities in the US-controlled regime but the busloads of pro-Iranian sectarian gunmen continued to pull into the neighborhood, where residents are confined to their homes under the US imposed curfew.

In a dispatch posted at 8:09pm Makkah time Friday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that pro-Iranian Jaysh al-Mahdi gunmen were preparing to attack the population in the western Baghdad district of al-'Amiriyah.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that dozens of Shi'i sectarian gunmen were readying for an assault, bringing in with them modern weapons and driving vehicles belonging to the puppet "Iraqi Interior Ministry." The puppet "Government"-backed sectarians were taking up positions by the al-Jihad neighborhood bridge on the road that runs to Saddam International Airport.

Resistance fighters throw back attack by Shi'i sectarians intent on digging up body of Sufi Shaykh 'Abd al-Qadir al-Jilani in Baghdad Friday night.

In a dispatch posted at 9:34pm Makkah time Friday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a short while earlier Iraqi Resistance forces threw back an assault by pro-Iranian Shi'i sectarian gunmen on the tomb of 'Abd al-Qadir al-Jilani whose aim was to dig up the tomb where the body of a highly venerated Sufi Shaykh is buried.

The Baghdad correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that more than 16 pro-Iranian sectarians were killed and others wounded when Resistance fighters and local men threw back the assault on the Bab ash-Shaykh area of the occupied Iraqi capital.

The correspondent reported that after the Shi'i sectarian assault, US troops showed up on the scene and saw with their own eyes the dead bodies of their allies the Shi'i sectarians strewn about the streets near the square and the taxi stand and behind the al-Khallani Mosque.

One witness said that the attacking Shi'i fanatics were carrying picks and digging tools, proof that they were indeed planning to dig up the body of the revered Shaykh 'Abd al-Qadir al-Jilani who died in 1166 C.E.

Iraqi Resistance organizations unite to combat pro-Iranian Shi'i sectarian rampages in Baghdad.

In a dispatch posted at 8:59pm Makkah time Friday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the various Iraqi Resistance organizations had united their operations and plans in all regions of Baghdad in order to resist the latest surge of pro-Iranian Shi'i sectarian rampages against Sunni residents.

The Baghdad correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the al-Qa'idah Organization in the Land of the Two Rivers as saying that the various detachments of the Iraqi Resistance had begun to coordinated their activities and deploy their fighters in a coordinated manner in order to repulse new attacks by Shi'i sectarian fanatics fighting on behalf of the Iranian hegemonist regime.

Shaykh Abu Ghazi told the correspondent that "coming hours will witness a decisive response to the Jaysh al-Mahdi and Badr Brigades and all the sectarians who have taken part in attacks on Sunnis."

For his party Shaykh Abu Mustafa al-Ghariri, a commander of the Jaysh Ansar as-Sunnah Resistance organization, in an exclusive interview with Mafkarat al-Islam also warned would be attackers that those who set worshippers on fire would soon be meeting retribution.

Iraqi Resistance fighters and local residents of Sunni districts of the Iraqi capital were in a state of readiness and mobilization as evening turned into night on Friday.

Pro-Iranian Shi'i sectarians reportedly murder 40 Sunnis with electric saws.

In a dispatch posted at 10:24pm Makkah time Friday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a short while earlier Shi'i sectarians had gathered together 40 Sunni captives in the Madinat Saddam section of Baghdad – an area nicknamed "Madinat as-Sadr" after the American invasion of Iraq in 2003 – and murdered them in a savage manner at a public meeting.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported witnesses as saying via telephone links that Jaysh al-Mahdi sectarian gunmen killed more than 40 Sunni youths and other men, including elderly men, all residents of the al-Hurriyah district of Baghdad whom they had kidnapped on Friday afternoon.

Witnesses reported that the pro-Iranian Shi'i sectarians lined up the Sunni youths in the public square in front of a crowd of people and proceeded to cut off their hands and legs at the knees with electric saws. They then left their victims to bleed to death.

Witnesses said that the pro-Iranian sectarians then set fire to the bodies. Some of the victims had not yet died when they were set ablaze and burned to death.

In a dispatch posted at 1:42pm Makkah time Saturday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that on Saturday the Iranian embassy in Baghdad received the bodies of six Iranian members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard who were secretly working in Iraq with the Shi'i sectarian militias and were killed in the car bombings of Jaysh al-Mahdi gunmen in the Madinat Saddam area on Thursday night. The Baghdad area of Madinat Saddam was nicknamed "Madinat as-Sadr" after the US occupation of Iraq in 2003.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the six bodies of the Iranian agents were received by Mujtabi Sari Nida, an employee of the Iranian embassy, from al-Kindi Hospital where they had been taken initially after the Resistance attack.

The Iranian regime claimed that the six Revolutionary Guards were present among the Jaysh al-Mahdi gunmen just as "ordinary citizens" on "pilgrimage" to the Shi'i al-Kazimiyah mosque.

The Iranian agents were killed in a part of Baghdad some 30km from the al-Kazimiyah mosque, the correspondent pointed out, noting that the area was, however, a stronghold for the Jaysh al-Mahdi and Badr Brigade Shi'i sectarian militias which receive support from Iran and the United States.

The following are the names of the six Iranian "Revolutionary Guards" killed in the Thursday car bomb attacks:

'Ali Shamkhani, killed by bleeding in the brain;
Baqir Dhu al-Qadr Rida, killed by severe wounds to the chest and back;
Muhammad Husayni, burned to death;
Ramadan Fayruzandah, died of a crushed skull and burns;
Qasim Taskhiri Rida Agha (passport NO. 01459872 from Karmanshahr, Iran) had his leg blown off and suffered a wound to the neck;
'Ali Farhad Salmani, died of a severe lateral cut on his chest and from having both legs blown off.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent reported an informed source as saying that 30 commanders of the Jaysh al-Mahdi militia were killed in the Thursday attacks, among them Husayn Fattumah, who carried the name of his mother because he was a marked man after abducting three Sunni girls from a Qur’an memorization school on Palestine Street.

The regional hegemonic regime in Iran is seeking to secure its hold in Iraq by using Shi'i sectarian leaders and organizations in order to try to step into the shoes of the American occupation authorities whose grip on the country has been weakened by three years of increasingly severe Resistance attacks. To forestall Iran’s attempt to replace America as colonial power in Iraq, the Iraqi Resistance continues its offensive against pro-Iranian as well as US and pro-US groups and facilities.
