Maybe I misunderstood it too. I have not read enough about Admiral Kimmel but suspect he was fighting the same wars with congress and procurement that plague the services under every Democrat congress. Americans want the best fighting force but not as many are willing to pay for it.

Rummy is actually the second casulty of the Libtard/DBM attack machine.

Former SecArmy BG Thomas White was the first.

This is two heads now on a stake that the Libs have taken from us.

I posted that the CIA regard Jane Harman as a prima donna.

After thinking about it....from Nancy Pelosi down..ALL of them are prima donnas and prima dons...

Just look at how they act when invertiewed...and Charlie Rangel gets away with calling the VPOTUS a "son of a bitch" ...and everyone titters...

You can darn well bet that the name calling and the "you can't touch me" attitude will just multiply during these hearings to impeach Pres. Bush and VP Cheney.

Well said, Phsstpok!

This is a good reponse to the 100%ers that mnjohnnie has been refering to as well. I hope people realize that their "getting tired about Iraq" could allow a pullout of American forces that will lead to more violence, more death, and a lot closer to home. If their boredom over Iraq turns into a desire to stop the war, well, they're not going to get their wish. We cannot afford to walk away from this like we did in Vietnam. Novemeber 7th we moved a lot closer to that reality, sadly.

This is in NO WAY meant as a criticism of anyone on this thread..but...

Have you guys noticed....that very, very rarely do we have comments from any Sunday Talk show except perhaps Fox and MTP?? Even those are getting fewer and fewer.

I am not usually able to watch the shows...and always get here late...but I read the whole thread.

Stephy's show, CNN with Wolfie and especially, Face The Nation is NEVER mentioned.

I think that when we were talking about getting a message to the public about the MSM...there is an example.

WE on this thread are talk show junkies or we wouldn't be here...and yet ever WE don't watch or discuss the PAP that they are dishing out.

I know the MSM doesn't care....but, with Americans hearing only 5-10 different voices, week after week, they are going to truly believe that THESE are our representatives..and they DO speak for the majority.

So...was the election on Nov. 7th telling US, we are wrong and America really does want these buffoons as the leaders of our country....or, were these people forced down American's throats AS the leaders, and American's bought into it?

That is the way I look at it....and woe be to our country.

The problem is....the MSM will NOT admit that they crowned the wrong king...and will feed the lies.

#268, it did not bother me like it did you, because I felt that Rummy had accomplished most of what he was hired to do. His main Job before 9-11 was to change the horribly bloated, inefficient, costly, Lobbyist heavy, Top Heavy Defense Department. It is a shame he only had a short time before 9-11 interrupted the Huge Plan. Obviously some of those Major players in that Bloated Bureaucracy saw the writing on the wall and either left or turned leakers to stir up trouble. They are worse than the Enemy, they are the enemy within, and typical of those that stayed and profited by the Clinton Presidency. They had their own paychecks, Promotions in mind, not the safety of our citizens either here or in the rest of the World. They are probably not even ashamed, and some of them are still there waiting to leak more info to the DBM. John Murtha would not have been able to flim flam, scam, connive, and screw the Taxpayers over, lining his pockets, and various criminal cohorts if the Pentagon had been run by Rumsfeld many years ago. I worked at the Pentagon in 1967 and 1968, and it should have been Overhauled way back then. I think Rummy was more than ready to leave, and like a real man does, he picked the time and place. Now that Rummy is gone, part of the over-reaching of the Rats and the DBM will be tempered, and if the Rats get really bad/over the top as is their normal behavior in any hearings they will look more anti-Military than they already do.

Very good points! I agree 100%. Did you post on Kristin's thread yesterday? This needs to be there!!!!

You have hit the nail on the head about the timeline. 10 years may not be enough, but I'll bet if we "go long" it will be much better than today. Nobody in this country has any patience. They're like that poster from the 70's, the one with two buzzards sitting on a branch of a tree in some desolate landscape. The one looks at the other and says, "Patience my ass, I'm gonna kill something!"

Now after 3 years people here want the happily ever after ending or they'll vote in politicians who'll take the ball and go home. Nyah, nyah, nyah!

As Ronald Reagan used to say, "You ain't seen nothin' yet!" The war they'll get for the war they'll abandon will be horrific and deadly compared to the one they should be showing a stiff upper lip and a little resolve over. Patience my ass, I guess!

Sleuth, if you have a minute stop by this thread. The last page the one I've linked you to is really something. Especially post #44 and following. This is what FReeRepublic is now drowning in...posts from FReepers like this one. My response is there. Also, Allegra is on this thread reporting from Iraq. Thanks...

Former SecArmy BG Thomas White was the first.

Good point...This was facilitated by fallout from the Enron mess, wasn't it?

I sure wouldn't bet against that happening.

I mean look how quickly everyone on the left swept the scandals of Jefferson, Reid, Studds, Frank and others under the rug to make it appear that ONLY Republicans are ever dirty.

IMHO, its a major mistake to judge a WOT, or war on terrorism, over a brief period.

Our fighting forces, the best in the world, are in the business of stopping terrorists whenever and wherever they rear their ugly heads. If we don't who will?

The islamofascists have vowed to destroy us and anyone like us who do not believe the same way they do.

We can negotiate, cut and run for now, talk, talk some more, make idle promises, go French, do whatever scheme we like but the bottom line in the final analysis is We will have to fight these bastards sooner or later.

They can not be talked out of fighting.

I honestly don't remember if it was Enron or Halliburton.

Either way it was a lot over nothing and he should have stayed.

He was a good man.
