Arnold is Arnold (FR poster 'calcowgirl' mentioned in LA Times blog)
Los Angeles Times ^ | Nov. 22, 2006 | Robert Sallday

Quietly encouraged by the Schwarzenegger administration, a lot of pundits nevertheless have been pushing this idea of an Arnold Way for the Beltway. But conservatives - the ones who would actually have to change their course under the Arnold Way — aren't buying it.

CNN's Bill Schneider "informed the GOP that the way to recover from midterm losses is to imitate Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and embrace liberal policies," the liberal-media hating News Busters concluded. My favorite response to the Whalen piece came from Weekly Standard reader Calcowgirl, who simply pointed to Schwarzenegger's deeds as proof he wasn't one of them. She (I assumed Calcowgirl is a female) keeps a list of the governor's offenses from 2006:

Absentee ballots are part of the homosexual agenda? Anyway, the real question is: How many of these would President George W. Bush support?

... It is sad to see that some on this thread fail to see that those freedoms are at great risk of being taken away from our grandchildren as the socialists and fascists work to advance their agendas, ...

Nah, whats sad is your caricature being used in parody as an extreme conservative. Just like Archie Bunker.

I think you're onto something clear here, again, 68 Grunt.

The Ilk were proud of being purists and played an all or nothing game. They got nothing they wanted. And they still don't get the picture.

You never surprise me, grunt. You keep painting conservatives as bigots and extremists trying to promote your new "Rennaisance Republican" Party, a strategy conceived by Meatheads and liberals as a way of advancing the liberal agenda. Sorry... see tagline.

Proving my point, once again.
Some never miss an opportunity to avoid discussing issues and only stop by California threads to join in the trite and vile name-calling.

No I don't. I keep painting you and the ilk as fake conservatives, DICCs, and I do this because the only thing you encourage is utter conservative defeat. The rest of the blather is from your fertile imagination.

Your post is the last refuge of a scoundrel, calcowgirl. You and your ilk always, as last resort, pronounce the "My California/My Self" ideology sooo in tandem with liberal strategies: "Only blacks can speak of Black Issues" "Only Gays can speak of Gay Issues".....And only alleged "uber" conservatives can talk on a posting board about "California".

Do you realize or even care how stupid you look posting crap like this?

I asked you specific questions which you completely ignored, as usual, now opting to launch more name calling. Who is posting crap?

"or what utterly fake conservatives many of them are in truth."

And they say the same thing about you. In truth, both groups are conservatives who differ about strategy.

Now I voted for Santorum but supported McClintock and probably would have voted for him, so where do I stand?

Is it possible that honest people, wishing to achieve the same goals, can differ about strategy?

Thanks for asking.
who says 'they' share the same goals?

I don't see any attempts by the muddled minded middle of the roaders / moderates/ progressives here at FR content to do anything more than fake wringing their hands as the state and its bureaucracies devour more and more and provide less and less in return, only to demand even more is required. not to mention , the continued downward spiral of social norms across the board and the continued attack on the nuclear family and this is from both sides of the aisle..

It ain't easy being a conservative these days, especially in California (or at FR),, that's why so many now register as independents.. and why so many more just don't vote anymore, if they haven't moved already, many more will and soon.

Good luck to those who end up having to pay off all the debt and new debt yet to come.

"I like both FO and CCG"

Are we allowed to like and dislike people from both sides of this debate and even agree and disagree with both at various times? 'Cause I'm getting the impression we're not.

Norm there are indeed moderates here on FR. But I have found conservatives who mostly agree with me regarding issues on both sides of this strategy debate, each declaring the other is not conservative.

As for the problems in CA, they are devastating and one could see them coming twenty years ago. I wouldn't dream of moving there now.

Just before the election, some prominent conservatives stated the size of government was no longer an issue. Whether this sentiment shall continue after the recent Republican defeat remains to be seen. I surely hope not.
