LAZY SWEET POTATO PIE
Buy graham cracker crust.
Bake a couple of sweet potatoes
Whip up some heavy cream with a little dark brown sugar and vanilla extract (and maybe a drop of almond extract)
Peel and mash sweet potatoes and throw in some nutmeg, ginger, allspice, mace and cinnamon, and a little maple syrup, if you have some.
Gently fold in some whipped cream with the mashed potatoes until even, but don't stir it too much.
Heat up an oven to 350.
Put the pie crust in the oven for about 5 minutes, take it out and fill it over the top with the potato/whipped cream mixture.
Bake for about 20 minutes - Brown but don't burn
Cool and serve with the rest of the whipped cream
Great!
Love you, too!
The Negative on this you need exceptional ventilation while cooking, you will see smoke just billowing out of your oven.
I am doing duck tomorrow have your any suggestions for stuffing the bird.
Could I use sultanas instead of raisins?
If you like chestnuts cook them first and then when you are boiling the sprouts add the chestnuts to the water about 5 mins before they are cooked.
In Britain we can actually buy frozen brussels with chestnuts not sure if you can in America.
Never tried butter with sprouts but then apart from potato I tend not to put anything with veg just boil in plain water not even add salt because my father has heart trouble.
At first I found the veg tatsteless but soon got to like it and now prefer it or even better most veg (not sprouts though) I prefer raw.
Book marked may try this at Christmas when I have 10 days off work.
Definitely small ones and I still believe in the old wife's tale they are better after the first frost.
2. Throw bag in trash.
3. Eat something else.
Great recipe... you forgot a step between 2 and 3...

Ohhh.. That looks GOOD!
The first (Lesser Canada) goose I ever got, I spent forever plucking the thing. It was pretty good when I roasted it.
What do you use as a stuffing? How 'red' is a farm-raised goose? Wild ones are very dark red.
I absolutely love that you are celebrating Thanksgiving with us.

PS. Savannah says hi!
marked for later reading. Thanks for the thread, it is always fun to read.
Karo is a syrup. Dark can be used for pancakes, waffles, or pecan pies. White is used for candy like peanut brittle or fudge, or also can be used for pecan pies.
When i was a kid, I liked to take while Karo syrup and mix it with peanut butter and eat it on biscuits (not cookies).
...I stuff my turkey with bread crumbs, giblets, livers, raisins, apples, celery, onions, some seasonings and baste it with a mixture of chopped fresh herbs, white wine and butter. I use a roasting rack in a huge covered roasting pan and remove the cover to brown the bird toward the end.
(A nice roasting pan with a vented cover that is large enough to hold a big turkey is not easy to find anymore - - mine is about thirty years old...)
One person I know stuffs the turkey with oranges and roasts it upside down...
Last year I did sage and onion, add a fresh onion and tin of mandarins. It was quite nice but am open to suggestions for this year.
