Sgt. Hasan Akbar, Muslim American soldier, killed two colleagues and wounded 14 other troops after tossing grenades into tents while soldiers slept at Camp Pennsylvania in Kuwait on March 23, 2003. He wrote in his diary: "I am going to try and kill as many of them as possible."
Remember him?
The case is still dragging on, though - via Army Times (hat tip: Mike at Kokonut Pundits, whose cousin Maj. Gregory Stone was one of Akbar's victims):
The death sentence for convicted murderer Sgt. Hasan Akbar was approved late last week at Fort Bragg, N.C., by Lt. Gen. John R. Vines, commander if XXVIII Airborne Corps and court martial convening authority in the case. Akbar was sentenced to death in April 2005 by unanimous vote of a military panel for the March 23, 2003, grenade attack that killed Capt. Christopher Seifert and Maj. Gregory Stone....

I didn't see this here, If it is I apologize for reposting....
He cant be executed until the president gives a firm OK, said military law expert Eugene Fidell, who is not involved in the Akbar case.
However, he added, Akbars case will likely be in appeals for some time to come.
Experience teaches that this case will not be over while Mr. Bush is in office, Fidell said.
Which means this guy will languish for years before his sentence is carried out...if at all....

"Hasan Akbar"
Thats what we call a clue.
Never trust a "Mohammed", or an "Akbar" for that matter.

Show some patience. Even Texas doesn't execute prisoners the year after their conviction.

Death by grenade, it's the only punishment appropriate for the crime.

Compare this case, which has been kept under wraps for years, with the case of the US Marines in Pendleton who are almost daily in the news.

If this were the WW2-era U.S. military, this creep would last about a month, tops.
Some things really were better in the old days.

Push him out of a plane at 10,000 ft. Without a parachute.

This is exactly what I was thinking! Shameful!

What will come first, old age and death, or the end of his appeals?

GB won't pardon him. He was firm on this as governor.

This is how military law works: If a punitive discharge or more than one year in jail is given, a case is AUTOMATICALLY sent to the court of military review. After the CMR has reviewed the case, and if they do not bust the case and send it back to the convening authority to redo or whatever they busted it for, then it can be appealed to the Court of Military Appeal (COMA). After they review the case, the puke can still take it into the federal system. I know of individuals who were given the death penalty as far back as the 1980s and they have not been executed yet. Back in 1984 they redid the Manual for Courts-Martial (for short we called it MCM 1984 revised, since revised again). That 1984 revision had to fix some busted case that declared things wrong, and I think the death penalty was part of it, it has been a long time, but I think that was one of the reasons. So, yes, this thing is going to be in the appeals system for a very long time.

A lot of things have changed since then. We don't hang or shoot them as fast, but contemplate the fact that you're probably sitting in a comfortable chair at the computer, and this lowlife might be lucky if he's sitting on a steel bed looking at a 12 inch television, if he's lucky.
None of us would trade places with him, so it's not like he's having fun. Especially since he just learned that he's one step closer to being executed. No sweet dreams for him tonight.

Good. Let him suffer in custody until we off him. Buh-bye!
To: pinkpanther111
Which just goes to proof that the arresting troops failed in their duties by not discharging a full clip into the scumbag while taking the resisting offender into custody.
It would have been an accident, of course.
'nuff said, wink wink.

I hope he is in a military prison.
His quality of life would be less than optimal.
But given our P.C. culture, he probably has an aide assigned to pick up his soap for him, and serve him his Halal meals while reading verses from the koran.
Just nuts.
