A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day

Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.

A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.

Two days to go. You have worked LONG & HARD to make this a perfect day

The meal will challenge a four star restaurant; the wines perfectly match the meal; your guest rooms humble the Ritz Carleton; the TV screen is sparkling ready for the “big” game; the decorations are from House Beautiful.

But….

But - did you remember the real spirit of Thanksgiving?

Psalms 95:2 Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song.

Psalms 97:12 Rejoice in the LORD, you who are righteous, and praise his holy name.

Psalms 100:4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.

Psalms 105:1 Give thanks to the LORD, call on his name; make known among the nations what he has done.

Psalms 106:1 Praise the LORD. Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.

Psalms 107:1 Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.


Some thoughts/ideas to make this truly a THANKSGIVING…

1) Before the big meal/big games.. take all your guests to a nursing home, retirement center, homeless shelter…spend a few hours. Help feed residents, visit, serve food, read the Bible to them, pray with them.

2) Before the big meal/big game……get everyone together for a walk in nature. Enjoy beauty, find wonder, experience God.

3) Before the big meal/big game while at the dinner table – go around the table, look intently at & smile at & tell EACH person present, WHY they are so special to you & why you are thankful for them

4) Don’t worry about dishes/clean up.. Instead focus on the special people you are with this day. Give them a shoulder rub, listen to the “little people”, think of something you need to ask forgiveness regarding.

5) Pray for all your friends/family/acquaintances.

6) Be Thankful you are able to BE THANKFUL(think about this one a bit).

lovely table Luv..wow! all.. I hope in next few days to provide my backgrounds (which I photographed ) for you to use anytime/where you wish. I take pix w/background/tables in mind, The leave/green background in todays table is from a pix I took last fall FOR THAT PURPOSE

Kitty...always appreciate your sweet spirit, love of Christ & great words. You are a woman of faith & not without problems of life, for sure.. but are grounded on the ROCK!

Dutchess... hugs re: dad. After 15 years of care-giving mom, let's just say ...I DO UNDERSTAND!

Billie. I KNOW this all is a frazzle for you. Good old ADDH Dolly "understands" intellectually but is not there practically at this point.

Dutchess... just follow Billie's instructions. When I posted the thread I kept in the "check" command she gave us. that extra few parts to the one command seem to do the trick...well, until the NEXT "situation"

Saw movie A Good Year (Russell crowe) tonight.. Much better than the Rotten Tomatoes rating. I am more of an action/intense(James bond?) type but did enjoy this tonight.The scenes of the settings in France & the vineyard/chateaus were wonderful

Mommy's Foot Steps





It's my Mommy's job to teach and look out for me
And in her big golden eyes it's very easy to see
That she had been to and done all the things that I could ever do
So, to put one over on Mommy would be a most auspicious coup!

But, where would I start and what exactly should I do?
The ever tempting Curtains are thick and always alluring
They look like they could bear my weight which is always reassuring
Perhaps I could climb up high into the Curtains' pretty ruffled pleats?
Oh! To look down at Mommy and Our Pretty One which be a wondrous treat!

Or leap and ricochet off the Big Room's furniture and walls
To conquer and sit upon the Book Case, ancient, austere and tall
Then figure a way from up above to open its shiny glass doors
And slide inside, only to discover that Mommy had been years before!
