MINNEAPOLIS -- Six Muslim imams on Monday were removed from a US Airways flight at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport and questioned by police for several hours before being released, a leader of the group said.
The six were among passengers who boarded Flight 300, bound for Phoenix, around 6:30 p.m., airport spokesman Pat Hogan said.
A passenger initially raised concerns about the group through a note passed to a flight attendant, according to Andrea Rader, a spokeswoman for US Airways. She said police were called after the captain and airport security workers asked the men to leave the plane and the men refused.

You sure cannot blame anyone for not wanting to fly with them. The people on 9-11 were fooled first and no one wants to be the twice fooled. I am sure they will have the ACLU all over it though.

If there was a demonstrable problem with these particular individuals, they should have not been allowed on the plane to begin with. Apparently, there was not.
Apparently in your world, devious people cannot act normal until the reach a goal before revealing their true colors. The objective here may not have been jihad via explosives but jihad via ACLU.

so many Americans know so little about Islam Like I've said elsewhere on this forum, I don't know much about the particulars of Pentecostals, either, but I don't worry about them killing me at random.

Kids can't pray in school. My legislators can't pray in session. Why should imams pray on planes?

You don't have to worry about the imams. Ever notice they never strap bombs on for a sicide attack? Apparently, they aren't worried about not getting their 72 virgins.

Three of them stood and said their normal evening prayers together on the plane, as 1.7 billion Muslims around the world do every day...1.7 billion Muslims but apparently not the OTHER three on the plane. It seems like the three that stood up wanted to grandstand their religion and they got the attention they desired.

The woman who overheard them and reported them was an Arabic speaker and said they were not talking about or saying prayers but were saying anti-American things. Strangely, that has dropped out of the news. Check some of the earlier threads.

Since prayer times are pretty rigid, they can pray standing up if there is no place to throw a rug. It's quite normal for them. I wish it was mandatory for them to go to Mecca to pray....and stay there.

I find it very interesting that, 5 years after 9/11, this is the very, very first time that Muslims have had to do this on an airplane at exactly the time called for prayer. What a coincidence!

Shahin expressed frustration that _ despite extensive efforts by him and other Muslim leaders since even before the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks _ so many Americans know so little about Islam. We know LOTS about Islam. You just don't like what we know...
