Michael Richards exploded in anger as he performed at a famous L.A. comedy club last Friday, hurling racial epithets that left the crowd gasping, and TMZ has obtained exclusive video of the ugly incident.

Then you, as a black person, should be telling that to the black people who DO use it toward other blacks AND to the media who think it is just fine, and we should all just understand and accept that, and who also think it's fine and totally PC to disparage white people about their race.
Frankly, I'm fed up with the double standard and being told that, because I'm white, I'm responsible for and should make amends (meaning pay money) for every wrong that's ever been committed against anybody, anytime, and anywhere.
I don't talk to hecklers!!
That depends on how easily offended you are. I've been one of three white people in a comedy club with a black comic and an otherwise black audience (the other two were also at my table), and we got a little grief, but it struck me as good-natured. We weren't called names or insulted.
If you draw 0-100 scale for "offensive," Richards' rant was a hell of a lot closer to the top end than anything I've heard from black comics. There is a valid point that white comics can get away with about a 20 and black comics can get away with about a 40, but that's no defense for Richards, who hit at least an 80.
Thank you. Allow me to say the same (except for the "gentleman" part). I try to disagree -- even heatedly -- without being disagreeable, and I hope I succeed most of the time.
He made it a point to say that he was a black male, which is totally irrelevant to the point unless he was referencing the black culture.
He then proceeded to provide an example where, if someone flipped him off, he got 'ticked off' and couldn't imagine that everyone wasn't that way. I merely explained that you can't let the actions of others generate these knee-jerk responses. He simply couldn't understand that allowing the actions of others to determine his knee-jerk response was because he values the opinions of others over his own.
Someone flips me off, I don't care. Their opinion is completely irrelevant to me and certainly no reason for me to respond in some knee-jerk fashion. But that is because I come from a different culture. He wasn't able to understand that.
Now I suppose that he might have related his black skin color without realizing that it was irrelevant to the discussion if he wasn't referencing the black culture, but the balance of his responses support the original interpretation.
It doesn't matter what color you are, if you get 'ticked off' because someone flips you off, you value that person's opinion more than your own. That seems to be a fairly obvious conclusion.
Perhaps you are confused because this paradigm, while part of the black culture, is not limited to the black culture. I'll be that's what the problem is.

No doubt. Thanks for the explanation.
Relevance? Are you shifting from excusing racism to supporting it?
Reign of White Guilt. It's raining white guilt! But then, only non-whites can speak about it and mock it as Shelby Steele does. But you oughta attend some ethnic gatherings as an insider or a trusted outsider. It helps to speak the language, too. (I mean 'ethnic' as in foreign born U.S. residents or citizens.) By the measuring stick of the "RACISM" obsessed white guilt promoters, they are all (the ethnics), I mean all, "RACISTS", just for daring to note certain obvious cultural characteristics of other ethnic groups, most often those the native born white guilty feel so guilty about. But these ethnics know full well that it's not about race, it's about culture, stupid. Just ask some Africans here...
I'm not sure what you're trying to say here. Perhaps you might consider going back to your picture posting mode.
Did you see Jimmy Buffet hanging out with Bill Clinton and Dan Rather at Ed Bradley's funeral? I thought he was going to cry as he played some song for good old lefty Ed Bradley.
Right now, you are literally acting like a Parrothead. Squawking, enunciating words but not making sense. Let me see if I can construct your argument:
White guy walks down street late at night in Harlem;
White guy presumably gets attacked automatically, since he is white;
White guy stops having "white guilt"
White guy therefore doesn't mind when Kramer calls an audience member an "N" and then shouts it over and over and suggests the man should be lynched.
Good line of reasoning.

It's difficult to remain unconvinced.
Stop using logic. You need to use emotion when your tribal loyalties are involved.
A fine tribe to be a member of.
Let's hear ReignOfError weigh in on this one. I can't wait to hear his reply :)

Nice try Defiant. Maybe "Ice Cube" will come knocking at your door tonight. Better make sure it's locked.
That's a horrible racist assault, and the people who did it shouldn't get out of prison until they're wearing diapers, using walkers and don't know where they are. If there is any any case where a hate crime statute applies, that's it.
Yes, black racists commit horrible crimes. I don't see what bearing that has on the fatuous comparison between Michael Richards' rant and a Chris Rock routine. As far as I know, neither of them has committed a crime.
