Screw the bipartisanship.

We didn't elect Dubya six years ago to get along with Democrats.

We elected him to NOT get along with Ds.

That may have been what you did, but he ran on being a "uniter, not a divider", and promoted how well he worked with democrats in Texas.

So it would be reasonable that the average voter elected Bush specifically because he COULD get along with Democrats.

And he certainly did that the first few months, before Jeffords stabbed him in the back and then 9/11 happened and he realised the democrats weren't ready to do what needed to be done.

I think what we're going to see out of the prez for the next couple of years is a rubber stamp for whatever the RATS want. He's already proved that he's a big spending liberal, and that's right up their alley.

The election is over and now Bush has the RATS all lined up to help him pass a broad amnesty with more benefits for illegals than Americans have.

While I agree with you 1000% that we don't want to get along with dems I disagree with you on George Bush. Bush said repeatedly as a candidate that he wanted to set a new tone in DC and that he had a track record of getting along with dems in Texas etc etc He also said he would be a compassionate conservative (whatever that is).

So anyone who voted for George Bush voted for the lesser of evils against Gore and was fully told in advance that Bush would not serve as a partisan President. Bush did what he said he was going to do. Only we don't like it.

Funny -- I thought we elected him to lead the country.

Obviously, we don't want him to give up the farm, and I'm sure the veto pen will get a lot more use in the next two years than the last 6. But it's not going to be good for the Republicans or the country if every issue turns into a p---ing contest.

Rove ran campaigns - not the oval office.

I don't have any problem with Rove leaving - the elections for Bush are over. Time for Rove to focus on getting a good candidate elected in 2008.

We elected him to NOT get along with Ds.

And he's spent his whole six years doing just that. I'm not sure I understand what the article is talking about "a new push for bipartisanship". Isn't that the same junk Bush was spouting when he got into office?
