The rumors that chief White House political architect Karl Rove will leave sometime next year are being bolstered with new insider reports that his partisan style is a hurdle to President Bush's new push for bipartisanship. A key Bush advisor tells the US News Political Bulletin, "Karl represents the old style and he's got to go if the Democrats are going to believe Bush's talk of getting along." The advisor said a departure might come in "weeks, not months." A Rove ally, however, noted that he has a record of out-witting his critics.
I agree. All we can do is work for the future elections and make sure it never happens again. Those that threw their tantrums by bashing the GOP for a year or longer, big mouth Michelle Malkin, Rich Lowerly, Bill Kristol, Michael Savage, et al, will be the first to scream when a strong conservative does not make it into SCOTUS with the next vacancy. Me, I will be pointing right at them because I have no problems with pointing to those that discouraged voters from voting. I know the GOP and GW are not perfect, neither are any of us. I do know though they are a much better than the donks and their vision for this country.
Yes, unfortunately I can
Like the Dems they think they've won something
The are dead wrong on that thinking because in the end it will come back and kick them in the teeth
Sorry, tx ... I always have you on, except when my brain's overloaded ..lol.
I'm also furious that there would be ANY pronouncement of any new "bi-partisan" initiative .. at all. He's ALWAYS been the most gracious of presidents.
For pete's sake, who came to DC with the promise to change the tone and did it?
Who extended his hand and STILL extends his hand and decency to the Rats?
Who has turned the other cheek so many times, it's a wonder he's not in perpetual vertigo?
Who has suffered the most publicly vicious presidential and personal attacks from the other party of any president ever??!!
There is ONE man, the President, who stands guard over our Constitution and the separation of powers.
There is ONE man, the President, who is responsible for our security.
and
IT TAKES TWO PARTIES FOR BI-PARTISANSHIP!
I'd be really upset to see more cheek turning and
tail-between-the-legs bending and appeasing ... I mean REALLY.
RYWUPOS
You know, I so sick of hearing "what went wrong". President Bush or Karl Rove could not have even anticipated the so-called "young smart conservatives" that can barely remember the Clintoon years, let alone a time when the RATS really ruled. These young smarties decided to "teach the Republicans a lesson" by either not voting or voting AGAINST Republicans. Real Smart!!! You all know who you are.
Bush will spend the next two years in legacy bulding mode. This means purging the conservatives, running from Iraq like a scalded dog, declaring amnesty and removing all border controls, otherwise captitulating to the Democrats at every opportunity, and spending like mad. The MSM will bequeath him with a 50% approval rating (65% if he can manage to work in a sex scandal and he departs Washington a hero (to the Left).
Yeah but Roberts came before Miers. Roberts is and will be the best darn Chief justice this country has ever seen. How you do explain that one then? Also, after Miers GW did not need to appoint Alito, he could have appointed someone else. He did not though. None of us knows what type of justice Miers would have been, except GW had a better understanding than any of us here and after him nominating Roberts, I tend to belived Miers would have been a conservative hawk on the court.
Conservatives who spent all this time bashing the President because he didn't do things their way have destroyed what they wanted most. Power. Now they have none at all.
All they got was a chance to say I TOLD YOU SO......and we get to live with the results of their selfish tantrums.
I suspect you're right and we conservatives can look forward to "bipartisan" gun control, Hate Speech legislation outlawing criticism of Muslims and homosexuals and CFR that reduces the ability of conservatives to rally around and publish conservative viewpoints...
Ih well, it was fun while it lastedm I guess, seeing as how they squanderd 12 years of GOP control.
Ed
Amen. Your wisdom is not lost on me. We were very close to a staunch conservative SCOTUS, and it is truly sad that it will always be "what if" now. Thanks to those will closed simple minds who punished the GOP because their pet project was not handled how they wanted it.
>"......and we get to live with the results of their selfish tantrums."<
That sums it up nicely.
Nothing strange here. Rove is a political advisor, isn't he? We lost the house and senate. Bush can't run again. His job is through. He can move on and find another candidate. Nothing wrong with that. Of course, the media will twist it. What else is new.
Rove is not a conservative.
Actually, even with a win last week, the President would still be a lame duck in overseas legacy building mode. It's what Ike did, what Reagan did, what Clinton did.
The problem with congress is that they decided to be the amen corner for the lobbyists, the earmarks, the abramoff crooks and it caught up to them.
It wasn't conservatism that failed. It was people that failed. The Bridge to Nowhere, Duke Cunningham's yacht and mansion. Bob Ney's golf trips, exploding the size of government and the debt. Immigration. People need to stop blaming the President for the congress being out of control. It's their own damned fault. They tried to ride Karl Rove one last time and it didn't work. Perhaps now they will realize that they are a branch of government that is supposed to be ethical, and act like it. I want these folks to hold the democratic leadership and the President to the fire when necessary.
An example. We were all gung ho to investigate filegate, whitewater, monica, the christmas card list etc. What happened with the prescription drug bill? We spent more time determining if the Rapist misused his christmas card list than debating a $800 billion entitlement program. That is why we lost. We couldn't fix immigration, but we could squeal like piggies for the pork. The 1994 congress and this last one were like opposites. We deserved to lose. It's a pity, because the dims definately did not deserve to win. Until we recognize it, we will stay in the minority.
Emboldened enemies. Economy threatened. Big business threatened. The best health care on earth in danger.
As I posted earlier...while said President Bush is out of the country...Patrick Leahy has sent a note to the Pentagon DEMANDING all of the notes and directives that outline "Bush's torture rules"....
SO>..hopefully, any thought of working together will be gone by the time he gets home to all of the stuff the dems have shoved in his face already..
LIKE no John Bolton vote...no vote on any of hid judges...
"It would be good for Rove to leave though."
until Bush, Barney, and Laura is left? What kind of legacy is that? Go out blazing. History will judge him fine in about two decades after europe and israel is ablaze in destruction.
I don't know who first came up with that, but there's more truth than poetry in it.
