Al Rueters ^
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Arizona Sen. John McCain, taking the first step toward a 2008 White House bid, said on Thursday a return to principles of limited government and "common sense conservatism" would carry Republicans back to power after last week's election drubbing. "We lost our principles and our majority. And there is no way to recover our majority without recovering our principles first," McCain told the Federalist Society, a conservative legal group, in the first of two high-profile speeches kicking off his expected presidential campaign. McCain, an early favorite in what promises to be a crowded Republican presidential field, filed...

I agree with you...and did I hear Fred Barnes say he HOPES McCain wins??
(maybe he means instead of Hillary, but I wish they would be just a little more open minded...than the left media, that already have Hillary and Bill back in the White House)

No.

McClaim DOES and will continue to get the automatic and unadulterated love and admiration of the national press ......

Until he is nominated and Hillary is nominated.

THEN the national press will kill him, as they protect Hillary! with their lives, their fortunes and their evil honor..

The MSM's game plan is to tour/push McCane because he will be a perfect useful idiot for their divide and conquer strategy, and he also has enough baggage to be an easy kill after the nomination.

If anyone is still tuned to Fox, just hit the "record" button on your TiVO and it will capture the past 30 or more minutes!

Surely, between now and the election of 08, McCain will have at least one 'macaca' moment.

I was checking up something on John McCain from Wikipedia and I read this about his "controversies"

In 1998, McCain was chastised for reportedly making an off-color joke at a Republican fundraiser about President Clinton's daughter, Chelsea, saying "Why is Chelsea Clinton so ugly? Because her father is Janet Reno." McCain later apologized to President Clinton and Clinton accepted his apology.

Got to admit, it softned me a bit towards him. lol

"On April 15, 2005 --less than three months after President Bush had begun a second term won in part because of his pledge to fight for sound judges-- Senator McCain appeared on Hardball and announced he would not support the "constitutional option" to end Democratic filibusters. Then, stunned by the furious reaction, the senator from Arizona cobbled together the Gang of 14 "compromise" that in fact destroyed the ability of the Republican Party to campaign on Democratic obstructionism while throwing many fine nominees under the bus. Now in the ruins of Tuesday there is an almost certain end to the slow but steady restoration of originalism to the bench. Had McCain not abandoned his party and then sabotaged its plans, there would have been an important debate and a crucial decision taken on how the Constitution operates. The result was the complete opposite. Yes, President Bush got his two nominees to SCOTUS through a 55-45 Senate, but the door is now closed, and the court still tilted left. A once-in-a-generation opportunity was lost."

Fred Barns is a RINO. I'm not surprised he's for McCain.

Great point Bahbah. McCain cannot win a primary in CO unless he spends a few millions to dupe an unsuspecting voter base. Certainly, non of the conservative activists would support him. I believe there's even a question whether or not people would hold their noses and vote for him. Yes, he would be better than Hillary but he's too radioactive to get any real support. I also believe the media will kill his candidacy if he were to actually get it.

So who will it be? Rudy?Romney?Pawlenty?Newt?Huckabee?Frist?Brownback?Pataki? They have no chance.
At the end of the day, McCain seems still the most viable candidate. Not right on everything but a lot to work with. Stay with this fratricidal attitude and we will get Hillary or Edwards in 08

I don't think it will matter if McCain has a "macaca" moment until the general election...

The MSM will make this guy out to be the saviour of the Republican Party....we will hear endless stories about being a war hero and POW...

But, then, when he is against Hillary, we will hear all of the "bad" stuff...like the Conservatives hate him..and have no where to go...so HILLARY will go right..and start wearing her cross again...

And we will either stay home...or vote for Hillary.

I can write the script....and unfortunately, have to live the reality....for the next 2 years...and then 8 years...because if McCain is the GOP nominee...Hillary WILL win.

To quote a great American:

"John McCain, you treasonous bastard, . . . How dare you even think that you are qualified to sit in the oval office! Ronald Reagan's office! President? Hah! You miserable excuse for a two-bit political hack, you're not even qualified to shine Ronald Reagan's boots. If you do run, I'm afraid you're gonna be at least one vote short. It'll be a cold day in hell before a traitor like you ever receives my vote. And that's a campaign promise you can take to the bank."

I also believe the media will kill his candidacy if he were to actually get it.

They will build him up for the great pleasure they will take in bringing him down.

I was not home but I always DVR Brit's show. In my area (eastern NC), I noticed just this week that Hannity is now repeated at midnight and Brit's show is replaying at 3 a.m.
