The Gold Star Families Iraq Survey Group has released a new report, "A Brighter Future for Iraq," to help enhance the debate and discussions concerning the United States commitment to achieve success with the mission of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
The authors of this report have all traveled to Iraq since the commencement of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Seven of the individuals are known as Gold Star Families as they have lost a son in the war effort. Two of the individuals, Gold Star Father Joe Johnson and Marine Reservist John Ubaldi, served in Operation Iraqi Freedom themselves. Additionally, group member Melanie Morgan led a delegation to Iraq in 2005 where she had the opportunity to speak with both U.S. and Iraqi military leaders.
It is not by accident that the majority of this group is comprised of men and women who lost their child in Operation Iraqi Freedom. They are presenting their findings and recommendations to ensure that the United States adopts a policy in Iraq that will enhance American security that their children fought to preserve. Their children believed in the importance of the mission in Iraq, and so too do these parents.
Historic Trip to Iraq!
Meeting the people of northern Iraq.
It is a history making trip - the first coordinated delegation of families of fallen soldiers traveling to Iraq. On Wednesday our delegation visited one of Saddam Hussein's prisons following Tuesday's visit to one of his concentration camps. Our delegation joined the people of Iraq in celebrating the GUILTY verdict handed down to Saddam Hussein. Thye've met the President of Iraqi Kurdistan, the Prime Minister of Iraqi Kuridstan as well as the Minister of the Interior, the Finance Minister as well as the former Minister of Human Rights. The trip comes on the heels of news reports that Saddam Hussein was developing a nuclear weapons program immediately prior to the commencement of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Never before has such a coordinated trip of Gold Star Family members to Iraq taken place. We are honored to present to you these updates - keep coming back here as we will be making continuous updates to this page at http://www.MoveAmericaForward.org.

The MSM will cover this story with the same zeal they reserve for covering new developments in
Hittite Studies.

These reports are inspiring. I wish more of Northern Iraq's successes were reported. Hats off to those on this trip, both for their loss and for their continued support in a just cause.

Here are the the main points of interest for me...
"In our six days in northern Iraq we saw a region that is stable, secure, peaceful and experiencing an astounding economic boom. Everywhere we looked we saw construction as new homes, apartments and shopping centers were being built to serve the people of this peaceful region. We spoke with Iraqi citizens who expressed their undying gratitude to President Bush and the American people for liberating them from Saddam Hussein and his evil regime."
Oh and this....
"The importance of the Pentagon's public relations war cannot be overstated. America's enemies understand the importance, however, and that is why they provide media outlets with video footage of IED attacks on American military vehicles, footage of sniper assaults against U.S. troops, and terrorist recruiting videos by leaders such as Osama bin Laden."
"Our enemy fully understands the power of communications in winning the war through the airwaves. It is time for the Pentagon to similarly rise to the challenge."
One has to ask themselves...why are the journalists of the MSM not reporting from northern Iraq?

I've been waiting for a thorough report-
thank you Syncro, debbie, and kristinn.
I sincerely hope this has been forwarded to the appropriate personnel and will be waiting for news that you will be testifying about your findings to Congress.
And when you do, please tell Mizz Hillary Clinton
IRAQ AND I ARE FULL OF HOPE
and that if she doesn't think that's a strategy, tell her that she's dumber than she looks.
and then tell her that St. Augustine said Hope has two sisters, Anger and Courage. Anger at the way things are and Courage to change them. And tell her I'm full of that, too.
and then, tell her I said she's just full of $#!+.

We must not let Iraq founder. We cannot simply walk away. My son and I agreed about that before he went.

Amen. Today is the second anniversary of the day Karl flew out of the country, bound for Iraq. He called from Baltimore airport and told me how delighted he was to be dragging a crate of their M-16s through the passenger terminal. He even took pictures of the crate and packing list with the serial numbers. Every Marine I've talked to that knew him is amazed at how much he knew. Aircraft, small arms, tanks, it didn't matter. He even corrected an instructor (A Captain!) about the origin and date of manufacture of an AK-47 during final deployment training.

I find myself engraving them on my heart.
Love to you this day, Pop.
